I went to King William to meet a friend for a drink. The pub was fine and comfortable. The young lady behind the bar was polite and efficient but rather lacked humour and warmth. However my disappointment was over the somewhat loud, 'non' music that was playing of the system. In the end it drove us out and away...... other... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am so sorry that your customer experience was not the best. The member of staff you refer to is usually very bubbly and welcoming, and we have had a little word. She wasn't aware that she had not come across as her usual happy self and sends her apologies.... This pub is the jewel in the crown within the lovely Devon town of Totnes. Stayed in room one overlooking the high street twice and eaten there on four occasions. The owners manager and staff make you feel so special. The most dog frendly place I have stayed. Our dog gets her biscuits and water before we get our drinks!... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Room 1 has the loveliest views, great for people watching, while you enjoy your morning cuppa! We love our dogs and they are always welcome. As Phil the landlord says " they'll be fed and watered before you ". Hope your lovely old girl is doing o.k. Hope to see you again... More

The rooms are above the pub, well situated on Fore Street, the main shopping road in Totnes which leads down to the river. We had a lovely welcome from the friendly and helpful staff. There were three ales on: Betty Stogs from Skinners; Jail Ale from Dartmoor and Timothy Taylor's Golden Best. I had the Betty and it was in... More

Thank you for your lovely review. Phil the landlord loves his cellar and particularly his real ales. We're really glad you enjoyed the steaks, they come from the local butchers Luscombes, which you can see from the window of your room! We are lucky to be situated so centrally, in walking distance of the river and the Norman castle as... More

A lovely place to spend a night and while it can be a bit noisy you are prepared for that in advance by looking at where it is, on the Main Street. We were not able to have a meal as it was fully booked with christmas parties but did get to see a man in glam rock spandex outside!... More

Thanks for your very kind review. We are situated in the centre of town as you pointed out, very convenient, but occasionally noisy. You may have noticed that we supply earplugs just in case of the odd noisy evening. I'm sorry you didn't get to eat with us, but hopefully you may stay with us again and sample the menu.... More

Got to be the best in the area,,staff extremely friendly,,food locally sourced and delicious, excellent assortment of ales and spirits, and rooms spotless!,,,I cannot believe how everyone who entered the hotel was made welcome as soon as they stepped through the door! And right smack in the middle of a delightful little town,,,will definitely return!!

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting friends. We had the room in the picture. Full of character, bay windows looking over the High Street. Comfortable bed, clean & fresh bed linen & towels. Tea, coffee & extra treats in the room which were very welcome. Whilst we heard the outside noise it was by no means an issue, we... More

Thank you so much for a lovely review. We're really happy that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay with us. You are right about the steaks, they come from the local butcher across the road, Luscombes. All our food is sourced locally as much as possible and we feel it reflects favourably on our menu. The warm welcome from behind an array of fantastic real ale pumps is enough to put any man at easy and at comfort with the hotel he has chosen to use for a few nights, but it gets better, to go with the finest of ales you have food to match, but it gets even better again, they supply ears... More

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the array of Ales on offer and also our Menu. The staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic. They have an extensive bar menu and Specials board. We both chose something from the specials board. The risotto the wife had looked great and the liver and bacon I had was very nice. Washed down with really good real ale. Highly recommend

Thank you for your kind review. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed our food and that your wife enjoyed the crab risotto. Thank you so much for your lovely review. We're really pleased that you enjoyed your meal. I am quite passionate about the vegetarian options as so often the choice can be a little boring when eating out! It was nice to see you again, especially the pooches! Popped in to have a bit of lunch, just like any other day, in any other pub. Was greeted with a smile and a lovely approachable manner, so I got a pint of lime and soda (hot day) that really hit the spot, and had a good look around to see not just what people are eating, but more importantly...
