My wife and I have been coming to Torquay/ Babbacombe since 1963,this is the best yet !Simply called in one day as non residents for a coffee, were impressed, decided to stay next time we came to Devon and so we did. Worth the 300+mile drive to sample the fantastic food and hospitality, and what a location with that view... more

Ideally situated with wonderful view, spacious room with balcony. Pet friendly and you could take dog into bar whilst eating. Food plentiful and very good quality. Owners very obliging. Only one minor problem is there was a hen party next door which got a bit noisy but it would appear to have been a one off. Will definitely return. more

Stayed with Kate and Ed last week. Had a fab front room that you could lay in bed and see the coast and the next town with lights on after dark. We arrived late and Kate made us a delicious homecooked meal which we needed after a six hour drive. We had other evening meals as well all superb and beautifully... more

This hotel was booked for us by our daughter so we didn't know what to expect. we found really friendly, helpful staff and the owners went out fo their way for us. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and the beds were so comfortable we struggled to get out of them. The only problem we found was having a... more

We stayed for three nights from 3rd June, we had not booked & I think luck was on our side to come across a lovely & welcoming hotel. We had a lovely room with balcony and views which went on for ever . Rooms well kept & spotless, breakfast - good choice & enjoyable. Nice little bar for your end... more

Stayed just one night while visiting relatives. We had a sea facing room with double bed and en-suite. The room had a small balcony with terrific views, not that we spent much time in the room though. On the balcany is a small table and two chairs/stools. For the price of £70 for the two of us bed and breakfast... more

Our break was won in a charity quiz, the 3 night prize was donated by the very generous Ed & Kate. from the moment we walked in the hotel, we were made welcome. 2 of our rooms had fantastic sea views, everywhere was clean and in working order. Breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel, the evening... more

Mar 9, 2009 | Trip type: Family

Due to an unforeseen family bereavement - we found ourselves trying to find suitable Bed & Breakfast accomodation which would facilitate a couple / single occupier along with a family dog at short notice. After scanning various websites, and making several calls we plumped for the Downs, on Babbacombe Downs, Torquay. We arrived on a grey afternoon, feeling weary after... more

We had a one-night stay with family members whilst we attended a family reunion in Torquay. The hotel is about as close as you can get to Babbacombe beach - albeit it's at the top of the cliff. We had a sea-view and balcony, which I imagine would be great in the summer. Kate and Ed were very accomodating, as... more
