The hotel's position, at the side of the marina, is excellent and it was ideal for going for a stroll after the evening meal. The hotel, although old, was clean and well cared for. The meals generally were quite adequate, but vegetables and potatoes looked as if they'd been counted out (4 potatoes for 2 people each night). I was... More

We are five pensioner friends who stayed at the Regina Hotel with Alfa Travel. The rooms were clean and comfortable although a little noisy at night especially on Saturday night when all the local bars are busy. The food was very good, all freshly cooked and the waiting staff very attentive. The hotel is very central with plenty of local... More

Dear Janet D I am sorry that your mother was booked into a room in the Elizabeth Barrett Browning former house. When the booking was made nothing was mentioned to alert us that she is 79 years old or that she had any difficulty with stairs. All we had was a name booked into a single room with sea view... More

Spent long week-end break with a group of friends. Hotel very clean & friendly. Hotel staff very helpful, food was good. Room was cleaned each day and towels fresh daily if required. Lovely terraced area. Will go back again.

I have just returned from a five day stay with my son at the Regina Hotel in Torquay. The hotel was very clean, food was very good with a good choice. Staff were all very friendly especially our waitress and Luke in the lounge bar. Service in the restaurant between courses seemed a little slow at times but once the... More

We visited the Regina for the May Bank Holiday weekend. This hotel is located with a great view of the Marina and near all the shops and restaurants. The staff were all friendly and efficient and always had a smile. The breakfast was fine and quickly served. The only small negative I could find was the bed could have had... More

We are regular users of Leisureplex hotels and this is the 11th one in their chain that we have visited. We took my wife's elderly sister with us for an Easter break/treat. Despite arriving early and before the majority of guests arrived by coach the receptionist put us on separate tables for dinner and breakfast and said it was too... More

Dear Mr Loyla I am very sorry that the hotel did not allocate you a table for three in the restaurant for the first night and morning. Unfortunately there was nothing to connect the two bookings so the receptionist thought that you were independent from your sister in law. As is usual in our hotels we try to seat single... More

Visited this hotel for the 2nd time Sat 12 April on 5 day trip with Alfa travel. The hotel is set in a good position. All the meals were enjoyable, the Leisureplex hotels stick to a standard menu. There perhaps could have been better portions of vegetables and the same with the desserts. Please take note. The staff were very... More

Mum and I stayed here on an Alfa coach trip for 4 nights. Our room was No. 29 and we had beautiful sea views ( we paid a bit extra for this and was well worth it) Can't say I liked the plastic matress protector under the sheet! Beds were comfortable and everywhere was clean. The food selection is very... More

Having stayed in several Alfa travel hotels I must say that this one in Torquay is very good value for money. Yes its not 5 star and you don't get 5 star service but when all is said and done we did not pay 5 star prices. So I review this hotel on the overall price we paid for our... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Wonderfully situated on the harbour side with the principal shops and theatre a short stroll away. Part of the Regina is interesting as the home of the poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Relaxing bar lounge, air conditioned restaurant and lively bar with dance floor and entertainment most evenings. Limited parking at the hotel but plenty of commercial parking close by. Lift serves many rooms but the hotel consists of several Georgian and Victorian buildings and there are many changes of level. ... more   less
