Booked for one night the cheapest rooms, found we had an excellent sea view as an unexpected bonus having booked an inland view, and despite being on the top floor had fans in the rooms to keep them cool. Everything in the room was clean, good helpful staff, walked down to Torquay - 10 mins, caught a taxi back with... more

A luxury resort, I think not! Together with the view of a 8ft brick wall (with plastic flowers stuck on it), the shower falling down, flea bites, pitch black rooms with no sunlight and the smell of damp certainly didnt make this a romantic getaway. I cant stress enough the dilapidated state of this hotel. The only good thing was... more

the building is falling down bit by bit.. me and my partner are lucky that it didnt fall on us, you could say were lucky to be alive. on the web site it is stated 'luxury', however this is no the case, we stayed there for three nights, and they were all as bad as each other, the shower didnt... more

I found this hotel through lastminute.com and was eagerly awaiting a luxurious weekend away. Needless to say we did not get it. We were kept awake by a water boiler above our heads. We could hear everything the chambermaid did in the rooms all the way along the corridor. This place sounds great, but is old and falling apart and... more

My son and I are working in the Torquay area and opted for the Bishop's Court primarily because of the leisure facilities. I was nervous as to what to expect after reading several postings on different sites, but we went with it anyway. As you pull into the drive, the main building is quite impressive. Check in was straight forward,... more

I wouldn't go by what majority of the other reviews stated. It really depends on what you are looking for. Our room was adequate, cosy, TV and ensuite bathroom was spacious, our bed was comfortable, breakfast was fab. As the weather was glorious we didn't stay around the hotel as we only booked for two nights, but we'd definitely book... more

The Bishops Court must have been very nice in its glory days, but today its a great shame that it has not kept up its standards in some areas. The parking area is good nice and handy to the hotel as I had a disabled person with me, the main reception looked quite elegant, untill you look at the wall... more

Website was lovely but very misleading! On arrival we were greeted with mould and damp on the ceiling, torn carpets and the over powering smell of masked damp. There was nobody at reception on arrival as he was using the toilet. We were then sent to our room, which was not the luxury suite we had booked. Two single beds... more

First impressions were good - 3* hotel, looked nice in the pictures, I imagined Torquay would be pretty competitive for hotels so it'd be at least clean and friendly. What a shock we were in for! Check in was OK, then came the 10min walk to our room through a maze of tunnels. When we got to the room the... more
