Just returned from a 5 night stay.. We had room 16, yes a little dated but very comfortable bed and everything spotlessly clean. I would have liked a sea view room, but all were taken, but at this time of the year, it is dark anyway. . The lounge and restaurant were really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful,... More

From the excellent friendly service in reception to the warm friendly restaurant staff nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely first class - Thankyou chef! The hotel was comfortable and so relaxing and beautifully... More

We made a late booking and got one of the internal-facing twin rooms. Clean and functional, and a reasonable size. The hotel is quite nice and well positioned but it is a 15 to 20 min walk to Torquay centre and there is a fairly steep hill involved. 3 minutes walk from the coast - nice beach and great views.... I would firstly like to start by saying that I am one of the party of 20 in the review below and couldn't disagree more with the review. This hotel has served my family for the best part of 10 years. We absolutely love the Balmoral and stay here with pride. The hotel itself is in a great location, easy... More

Myself and my family (party of 20 regularly) have stayed here over a period of ten years and its fair to say we have noticed a decline each visit and this was the most disappointing of the visits ever. We took the weekend break offer and arrived on the Friday and its fair to say the disappointment started more or... More

We stayed at the Hotel Balmoral as we needed a base for a family wedding. I think it's fair to say that the Balmoral is little dated in terms of decor and approach, but they seem to make the older clientele (we thought about 90% of the guests were at least 75 or more) very happy with a certain genteel... We have just stayed at the Balmoral for week and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is a very relaxing place to stay with a beautiful garden and sitting rooms. The main thing though is the food and helpful and friendly staff. The food was excellent, good choice and generous portions. From the moment we arrived the staff were more than... More

Stayed at the Balmoral 26th - 29th September, as a friend had said what a nice place it was. I can't believe some of the reviews on here, i think some people have the wrong hotel. Balmoral was full the weekend we stayed but we still managed to park in the car park, on arrival we were checked in with... More

, , , and already looking forward to our 9th! Our first holiday here was in May 2008, and we have been back every year since - twice in 2004. Stephen and his team go out of their way to make life a real pleasure for the guests. Worthy of special mention is the cuisine. At breakfast time the menu... More
