Great room with views over the bay and to Brixham from the veranda. Plenty of tea/ coffee and a chocolate each day was a nice touch. Comfortable bed and good bedding. The hall needs re-vamping due to flood, but that will be remedied in the close season. Decent breakfast, plenty of choice and friendly service. For us it was in... More

When we arrived we thought the hotel was shut due to the view through the locked glass door. The reception area looked like it hadn't been used for some time and the walls were grimy with mouldy pictures. We can except that there was a leak but to leave but to leave the mouldy pictures on the wall was totally... More

We were expecting much worse to be honest after reading other reviews re cleanliness etc. The room was actually quite clean and we were initially pleasantly surprised. However, it's just little things that really make you feel ripped off. The reception area is pretty foul after a 'flood' earlier in the year. Apparently the owner is waiting until winter to... More

The reception area is to be redecorated at the close of season - as in comon practice with all other hotels. There is never used laundry stored in the hotels walkways, except maybe during housekeeping work periods. However, used laundry is sometimes stored in the reception porch awaiting collection as it can be collected anytime 24 hours. I am sure... More

The guest was telephoned approximately a week before arrival advising him of a shower problem in the room allacated to him. I also said that he would be able to have use of a shower in another room as all other showers in the hotel were and are working perfectly. When I spoke to the guest to advise him of... More

On entering there is mould all over the walls the soap dispenser in the room was hanging off the shower head kept hanging down so you had to hold it to get any water, uncomfortable bed and lounge/bar closed all weekend the bathroom had toothpaste splatters over the wall and it was very expensive we would not recommend this place... The main bone of contention seems to be the state of the reception area due to past water damage. The rest of the hotel is uneffected. I have stated in previous reviews that the area is to be completely redecorated at the earliest possible opportunity. There was no armed policeman guarding the entrance to the lounge/bar area, which incedently is... More

The last review entitled 'poor first impressions' is accurate as I also experienced and unclean coffee mug in my room and was also without soap in the dispenser in the shower although a bar of soap was provided. The reception area having suffered significant waster ingress was as expected (from reading other reviews) and although not seen anywhere else in... More

AA/RAC rated accommodation detirmines what facilities an establishment has to offer. A 4 * hotel would offer a phone in every bedroom, 24 hour reception/night porter, full evening meal menu, full evening bar service and even maybe a swimming pool. Hotel Hudson does not offer any of these facilities as it is catorgrised as a 4 * Guest House accommodation.... More

The reception reeks of damp from water damage streaking the walls. The framed prints on the wall are black with mould. I sympathise with the owner about the misfortune of storm damage, however the damage should have been dealt with immediately in readiness for the high season. It was a shocking first impression. Parking behind the hotel is restricted to... More

I very much regret the storm damage that took place (the worst since records began), but I have to say that it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to carry out the remedial works in the time scale permitted in readyness for the high season as the guest has stated. In case the guest is not aware, the damaged area has to... More

The hotel/guesthouse is nothing short of what I came to expect when booking. The room was everything we needed, basic but adequate. It was clean and daily service was helpful, would come back every day to a made bed and fresh amenities . Word of advice for others booking in the summer - bring a fan for the rooms as... More
