As someone who I would say is fairly well travelled and enjoyed many luxury holidays, I have to say that our stay at the Somerville was up there with the best and far exceeded expectations. My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights near Valentines Day and were seriously impressed by the standards of accommodation, and the breakfast... More

We had a three night stay. Both the staff and owners were. Welcoming and helpful. Everything needed was there without asking - cakes, fresh milk, bottled water, toiletries, robes and soft towels. Lovely breakfasts. Will definitely visit again.

It's not often these days that attention to detail is given anywhere. Unfortunately we tend to live in a 'that will do' world. There are exceptions to this, Wikipedia, Rolls Royce, Google, Apple, Michelin stared restaurants and 'The Somerville'. There's a great deal of effort here to make a stay warm, welcoming and everything you may want while away from... More

Another fabulous stay at the Somerville, unfortunately only for one night this time. The room was fantastic as well as the ensuite. The poo pourri made me chuckle! Very friendly atmosphere and a wonderful breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to staying again soon.

Have lost count of the number of times we have returned to The Somerville now. Can't fault the service and welcome you receive, whether a first timer, or frequent stayer. We are welcomed like old friends which is a lovely feeling. Rooms are spotless and have everything you could imagine needing and then some. Breakfast is fantastic. Even the pickiest... More

Having stayed in a number of large hotels in Torquay we were disappointed with the standards and rooms that they provided. However, having recently stayed at the Somerville we can safely say that this B&B exceeded our expectations and was a fantastic find. The rooms are spotlessly clean with comfortable and plush fittings. One of the most comfortable beds we... More

I think this is now,our 4 th visit if not 5th. Sometimes when I re visit places that on first visit are excellent but as time goes by standards either drop or complacency kicks in, just like a restaurant I have just visited which I gave 5 stars to a while ago and now I have given it 3 after... Finding that the Somerville had 97% 'excellent' ratings on Trip Advisor, we had very high expectations - and they were more than fulfilled. We stayed in the junior suite which was spotlessly clean and warm, with a very comfortable bed, good pillows and a down duvet. The sitting room had a large, soft sofa and occasional table with a TV... More
