The Hotel is an out of touch Bed & Breakfast. Our arrival was greeted by a locked front door and an unfriendly welcome. Our “Superior” room, for which we paid a supplement, was small, cold, dark and old fashioned. The entire hotel reeked of cigarettes (stale and new). The ground floor smelled of damp. Our heating was not on upon... More

We went to the Richwood with some anxiety as some reviews were not so great. We had a great time, we laughed, we ate different mezze and we were wrapped up in our hosts warmth and kindness. The Lebanese food was great, we ate both nights we stayed and loved it. Bar prices were reasonable too for a hotel. So... More

I have just returned from my third stay at the Richwood. On hearing the owners, Saida and Veronica discussing a recent review on TripAdvisor I decided to have a look at their reviews. I was shocked at some of them, disbelieving. The Richwood is an old Victorian House which is well kept; one can see that a lot of money... More

Thank you Hussain for your glowing review. We thank you also for the suggestions and comments that you also left, using the room questionnaire. Your constructive criticism was well presented and happily accepted. We will be renovating our last two small standard rooms and their Ensuites this winter, one of which (Room 7) you used on your last visit. When... More

We were greeted outside and told we had to pay the extra for the dog. Still in the car park we had to go through our luggage to find the money before being shown to our room not a good start. Our friends who had arrived earlier had also been asked to pay extra for a weekend rate. We had... More

This exaggerated review pushes me to the limits of my kindness and hospitality. I have to say that this review does not reflect the truth and leads us to believe that there are other factors at work; e.g. jealousy or racism and probably other politically incorrect discrimination. We are always happy to take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on board and we are... More

Veronica & Saida welcomed my son & I with open arms . Such a lovely couple . Our room was great , clean & tidy & bins emptied daily . The bed was really comfortable & the shower fantastic . Probably best I've had . TV in room was ideal for size & worked perfect . The breakfast - dinning... More

Many thanks, S44ualsl, for your glowing review. Yes, you are right, there are still some areas of our quirky Richwood that are still in need of updating: we are renewing the En-suites in our small standard doubles and our big family room this winter and some further redecoration will be done… step by step, and within our budget, we are... We stayed here Wednesday 29th October - Friday 31st October. We stayed in room number 7 which over looked the main road, which was small, dark, smelt of stale smoke, with a tiny shower room and wood-chip wall paper peeling off the walls, if we hadn't traveled 4 hours to get here we would have gone home. The hotel is... More

Well, I've said it before and I’ll say it again, people either love the Richwood or hate the Richwood! I will leave it to the discerning reader to look at our bi-polar reviews and make up their own minds! The Richwood is clean and well-kept; we offer basic, comfortable, clean, reasonably priced 3* B&B accommodation and enjoy offering hospitality to... More

I my wife and our neighbours stayed here for three nights from 20th October, we were warmly greeted by Veronica and shown to our rooms which although fairly small were beautify decorated and clean. We understood from the start we would be charged for as extras I.e cooked breakfast. We met Saida at breakfast and found her to be a... More

I have delayed writing this review as the owners, Veronica and Saida are such nice ladies and I no way want to offend them. My husband and I stayed here in early October on a Groupon voucher. The hotel is a bit dated and needs money spent on it but we all know that money is frequently in short supply... More

We thank this senior reviewer for her comments. One can see that she takes the reviewer role very seriously. FACT: The Richwood is not a hotel but a large B&B. FACT: We have already invested well over £120,000 in the Richwood and have not drawn any salary in 4 years. All profits have been put back into the Richwood. FACT:... More

"Love us or hate us" is a saying only which reflects our experience of a very small proportion of reviewers; of course we don't expect to be loved! But is is pleasant to be liked; we work hard for our guests after all... I have to ask Colguy: does he run a business? Did he not get a very good... More
