We are one of the best located hotels in Torquay only 350 yards from sea front, and 250 yards from conference centre. The railway station is about 10 minutes level walk away (but we can collect you by car). The hotel overlooks parkland, and the harbour and town are just a short stroll away. more » « less

My boyfriend and I just returned from a weekend away in Torquay. The Melba Guest house was excellent value for money and we enjoyed our stay with Len and Patricia. We would definately stay again! We have enjoyed two short breaks at this hotel; it is conveniently situated near the station, Abbey Gardens and sea front. A very warm welcome from friendly but not overwhelming proprietors; comfortable bedrooms; good breakfasts. It is a small hotel which feels like a large house and the lounge is "home from home". Melba House Hotel was very well situated with only a short walk to the beach. Owners -Len and Patricia, were the perfect hosts and made our first stay in Torquay very enjoyable. The title of this review is not my words - although I do agree with the sentiment - but a verbatim quote from Patricia Lindon, who owns and runs this English Tourism Council 'four diamond' establishment along with her husband Len.
