My wife and I needed a break and scoured the internet and found Orestone Manor. We paid a little more than we normally do but the food and service were excellent. The hotel has a great colonial feel to it with plenty of character. The patio fence needs a little tidying up and our hot water tap banged loudly. There... more

The hotel is so peaceful. The view from the bay window of our room was to Lyme Bay and the only sound was the hoot of an owl at night. The room was large, the bathroom lovely and the fruit, bottled water and sherry tray was a nice touch. I agree with another review that perhaps the cream carpets in... more

Never have I had such an appalling experience from a reputedly good (and positively reviewed) hotel. I arrived by taxi at 7pm on the night for which I was booked in. The place was in darkness and I was refused entry. The taxi had left by then. Eventually I was told that 'We are not open tonight', and left to... more

My first view of this hotel told me it was going to be wonderful. Our room was the one you can see on the pictures above with the sleigh style bed, and it was every bit as good as it looked! The whole look of the hotel is colonial upperclass luxury and it just oozes charm. The staff were exceptionally... more

We wanted to visit our elderly auntie and uncle in Torqay but could not differentiate between all the guest houses/hotels there. In fact having found Orestone Manor 3 miles north from Torquay we just took a taxi to visit and did not even see Torquay. Why because we were delighted with our choice of accomodation. Orestone Manor may be a... more

Little gem located on the coast road between Torquay and Teignmouth. Small boutique hotel that understands the meaning of old fashioned good customer service. Rooms beautifully furnished in period style and great size. Very good restaurant that serves local produce only. Highly recommended. We purchases the deal that included the room and breakfast/evening meal. Not dissapointed. Lovely old victorian house... more

My husband and I booked a room at the Orestone Manor on short notice and were pleasantly accommodated by the receptionist, who gave us a discount on their attic room. We arrived in the afternoon in a rainstorm and were greeted warmly with a glass of champagne, a tour of the manor, and help with concierge details, including maps and... more

Lovely country house hotel overlooking Maidencombe Valley and the sea. Excellent food and very good service. Dining room is elegant and lovely for intimate dinners. Lovely big room overlooking the sea, which had a large bathroom with big bath and a separate shower cubicle, which was nice. Any negatives? Very small - the menu in the restaurant had excellent food,... more

No customer focus at all. Arrived at 9:10pm and the restaurant had closed for the night! The bar and lounge were locked at 10:45pm. There was a table blocking the fire exit. The "lovely heated swimmimg pool" is a tepid postage stamp surrounded by ugly fencing. The plumbing knocks when the toilet is flushed. Even the seaview can only be... more

This hotel is lovely and all the things other reviewers have said, however our bed was so uncomfortable that we couldn't sleep. It was hard and lumpy and we couldn't wait to get up in the morning. When will hoteliers realise that a comfy bed is the most important thing they can provide? The lovely evening we had experienced ,... more
