This hotel looks nice from the outside but inside its in need of a total refurbishment. Lucky for us we were only there for one night, we ordered a double room and it was two singles pushed together, the room looked like it was made up and cleaned in the 40s. Having said that the staff we very good.

No wifi in the hotel rooms, there is a writing room that you can connect to for FREE on your laptop. The electric went in my room twice during our 2 night stay. The second time it happened I woke up at 1am and the lights wouldn't work, I called reception to advise, I heard the night porter banging through... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night. A bit disappointed as the rooms were very dated. The Bathroom had rubbish left in the bin from the previous occupents and bathroom hadnt been cleaned. We were there for a function so we could have done with an iron and ironing board which wasnt supplied. The grounds of the hotel are very... More

My wife and I booked the hotel from the positive reviews we had seen on the internet and believed from their website we were staying in a top class hotel - how wrong were we! On arrival we were given keys to a room which was already occupied by guests and were quickly moved to another room which was tiny... More

I recently stayed at this hotel after being taken in with its four star rating and boasts of being 'prestigious'. How disappointed I was!! The food and staff could not have been better but the rooms were very tired and poorly maintained. The yellowing travel kettle had bare wires, the wardrobe door had a broken hinge and wouldn't shut, the... More

We've just returned from a 2 night break at the Palace and haven't felt so refreshed and re-charged for a long time. The grounds are stunning and the golf course is challenging (in a good way!). The leisure facilities are excellent all round. Our garden view room was good and we slept well. The food was of a high standard... More

Picture the scene... work finished for the bank holiday and a top quality hotel booked in the wonderful Devon countryside: at least that's what we thought. Upon entering the hotel's car park I had an uneasy feeling that the hotel wasn't quite all it had been cracked up to be. "one of the best located Devon hotels to explore the... More

Having stayed here quite a few times in the past - and reviewed it very positively - we were somewhat disappointed by our latest stay. As we - and others - have previously said, the hotel itself is in need of a bit of updating (but we knew that before we went so that is not the sources of our... More

Stayed for a football convention for three night's over a weekend. We have stayed in this hotel before and this was by far the best weekend. The staff and the food were of a very high standard the room was very large and very clean. We added a extra night to our stay at the last minute and had to... More

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Gala Weekend. Our room was quite small and very old fashioned - sheets and blankets instead of a duvet. The television was an old portable television on a shelf beside the wardrobe and was almost impossible to see from the bed. However the worst part of the weekend was the... More
