I stayed there with a group of clients. The rooms are a little dated, but my clients enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and gym. Dinner was excellent, the service very attentive. The dining room is lovely, overlooking the extensive park at the back of the hotel. The only drawback were the rooms, they could do with a little... More

I recently spent a long weekend at the Palace and must agree with some of the previous comments the public areas are great however the rooms while very clean and specious are a little tired and in need of a bit of TLC however the food whislt a little expensive was faultless. On the whole i found the palace to... More

The hotel is huge, and the maintenance costs must be enormous. For this reason it is perhaps understandable that many of the bedrooms are pretty run down, although investment has been made in some of the Ground Floor public areas. Six of us took four rooms for a long weekend; the first floor rooms were dated but fine, however the... More

My wife an I stayed for one night and the place reminded me of the Waldorf Astoria in New York. It must of been very glamourous in the 1950s but needs a bit of TLC. The public areas are very nice, but our room was a bit tired. The bathroom was dark and dingy. My biggest complaint is not really... More

The hotel is a bit tired. Needs a paint job and the rooms need refurbishment. The receptionist at the check-in was unhelpful. There was no information about the hotel or Torquay in the room. When I asked at the reception she was uninterested but eventually agreed for housekeeping to put something in the room; which we eventually go the following... More

I've stayed all over the world almost in very expensive and very very cheap accomodation.Just because its not published on my list is because its back in the 60's and 70's and not relevent to current tripadvisor. This hotel is what it is , if it was refurbed to a much higher degree it would cost lots more to stay there... Stayed at this hotel for one night as was attending a conference that was held at the hotel. The hotel was easy to find and there is an overflow carpark. The hotel has massive grounds. I was happy to learn that my room was ready earlier than I expected. The lobby was clean and the staff was friendly which made... More

This hotel is in a great location with a fantastic little 9 hole course. The service is fantastic, the staff are great and the food is awesome. However for the 21st century it's not acceptable anymore. The rooms are terrible and urgently need updating. The beds are too soft, the bathrooms not the best and rooms are very 1980s. There... This hotel belongs to the past. It might have looked great 20 years ago, but needs a major refurbishment to belong to the 4star category! Carpet in the bathroom, filthy wallpaper, terrible matresses are some of the things that make the rooms simply terrible! Yes there is a pool outside and nice gardens and tennis courts...bbut these simply do not... More
