This hotel needs to update the rooms, we have just returned from a weekend break and stayed in one of the front bedrooms, they are small and need updating, small beds small tv and not that inviting, the last time we stayed we had a garden room , this was much bigger and had lovely views, also the lat time we stayed... High ceilings, cavernous rooms, rambling corridors. This is The Palace. If you want Modern this is not for you bit if you like Victorian charm that s is a great place to be. Swimming pools and a golf course too. I had a charming single room with views over the extensive gardens. Really comfortable too.The Breakfast was great. For me a... More

This was our third visit to the Palace. I had a garden room which I had had previously, it was large and very adequate. It is true that some of the bedrooms are small and in need of updating, which I hope will be done in the near future. The food and the service was as usual excellent and the... More

We joined friends who stay at this hotel for New Year on a regular basis. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel does need some updating but is very comfortable and the staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. The setting is delightful and our room was very comfortable and spacious. We were overlooking the gardens, so a lovely aspect.... More

We stayed on a last minute deal and were highly impressed by the look of this hotel. The reception glowed and really made us feel that we were staying somewhere amazing back in the 1920s. The lifts had an old fashioned look (which we loved), and and worked easily and quickly. The room was a little on the small side,... More

We had an excellent 3 day break at Christmas, and came back for 2 day break for the new year, the food and service was excellent, brillant could not fault a thing :) The hotel was excellent for me as I am a disabled person with an old fashioned touch. Now looking to our next stay :)

We previously stayed here just after New Year two years ago with a group of a dozen friends, taking advantage of the very good offer at this time of year. (Review is at http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186259-d191649-r149111510-The_Palace_Hotel-Torquay_English_Riviera_Devon_England.html#REVIEWS ) We repeated the experience this time, and paid £135 per person for dinner bed and breakfast for 3 nights. A bargain for a four star... More

It appears that the hotel is changing hands. We, (she who must be obeyed and I) have spent several weekend breaks at this establishment over the last ten years. I have enjoyed each visit. Part of the experience is the somewhat "old world charm" and comfort but a lot has to do with the staff welcome. It now seems that... More

Good value for money given the food and leisure facilities in the hotel. However our bedrooms and bathrooms were really dated and in need of a major upgrade. I wouldn't stay here if on business as could only get WiFi in public areas on ground floor even then it was weak / inconsistent. We had an enjoyable family stay as... More

A very good three day weekend after the Christmas excesses to celebrate a member of the families birthday. An excellent warm welcome, helpful staff clean well prepared bedrooms with big fluffy towels. Nothing is too much trouble for most of the staff. As a vegetarian, the evening meal does not offer a huge choice, but we had a great time.... More
