Leaving a poor review when we paid very little goes against the grain, but try as I might I cannot recommend this hotel. This is a splendid old building but faded grandeur is the order of the day. Check in was ok, not overly welcoming but ok. Room was again ok, but I have a personal dislike for blankets rather... More

This hotel retains some of the charm and grandure of the heyday of Torquay. Plenty of space, our room was huge though it was a little dated. The staff were wonderful We found the restaurant to be good too. We enjoyed a four course set menu in a huge formal dining room (this as part of our package) and had... More

The palace is one of the Victorian hotels that hasn't let itself go. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds are delightful (do ask for a garden view), the facilities expansive (for this area), and the food - well here's what I had for dinner: Goats cheese toasted with watercress garnish, beside warm... The facilities and service at this hotel really can't be beaten. Swimming pool and table tennis very popular with my children. We were well looked after at dinner and breakfast, with plenty of choice for children and high quality for me. The grounds are beautiful and our walks to the beach filled with squirrels and secret paths. Useful to have... More

Nicely situated Hotel. 10 mins walk to Babbacombe cliff, beach and Hanburys famous fish and chip restaurant. (brilliant!). Or 20 minutes walk down into Torquay centre. Alternatively Buses 11,22 and 32 pass outside every 10 minutes. Hotel still looks very grand if you don't look too closely. Ample free parking. Room ok but very poor shower. Rear rooms face East... This hotel looks so grand from the outside and even as your enter it has a lovely homely feel. When checking in the receptionist gave me very little information. She went to send me on my way after just telling me my room number and where the lift was...I had to ask where dinner is and what time it is,... More

I'm writing the review while being in the hotel just so you know how disappointed and truly shocked I am. I travelled here in business and usually would have chosen something more suitable for travelling professionals but I am planning my holiday in Torquay so I thought I'll try this, apparently 4 stars, hotel. I was impressed with building itself,... More

I took my wife to the Palace Hotel to celebrate her 50th, and we were not disappointed. The accommodation was excellent our room was very tastefully decorated with a big king size bed and the bathroom had lashings of hot water too. Also the hotel had an indoor pool and sauna as well. The gym facilities were a bit in... More

We’ve stayed at the Palace twice over the last couple of months and it is truly amazing and excellent value. Now I know it is tired and a bit chipped but what the hell – it is just faded glory and the glory remains. So I’m going concentrate on the good things. The grounds – huge with a walk down... More
