I dined here midweek with my daughter as a birthday treat in June - the fish was cooked to perfection as were the vegetables - compliments to the chef. Service was first class, we were treated like VIPs. The piano music was an added treat - beautifully played with expression, and as a musician myself I enjoyed this very much... More

My wife and I have visited this hotel on previous occasions and enjoyed our stays even though the hotel has what we call a "faded grandeur. We decided on a 5 day 'Special offer' break in September and hoped that over the years some refurbishment had been achieved. We were pleased to find on checking in that we had been allotted... More

we booked a 4 day B&B break through bookings.com at a great price. We had a great time. The hotel is elegant and has old fashioned customer service values which is sorely missed at other hotels.Really wonderful and you feel valued and looked after. The bedrooms, in particular are what you call 'tired' but extremely comfortable and clean. The breakfast... More

We got a great late deal to stay at The Palace Hotel and it was worth every penny. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night and two would have been great. We expected the most basic room they have and I think it probably was as it was facing the rear of the hotel but it was... More

Have just come back from a mid week break at the Palace. Was booked into a single at the front of the building.Small but seemingly adequate, I did clock the bed on arrival which I thought small at the time but then forgot about it until I actually got into it that night. To be blunt it was a child's bed,... More

We recently celebrated my lovely Dad's 90th birthday here, having Afternoon Tea. All I can say is delicious!! I have had a fair few Cream Teas to compare it to, and the scones were exquisite, and it was brilliant value. To add to this it is a lovely location, and the staff were delightful. Especially Neil, what a true professional,... More

I recently spent a short family break at this marvellous hotel, with family members ranging from 22 to 87 years old. There are so many facilities and there was something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools, while my husband and son played golf. We all played table tennis and indoor and outdoor tennis. Fabulous! In... More

Hotel lobby looks impressive. Staff friendly but literally the worst hotel room I have ever seen. Small. Cold. Cheap bed. Tiny tv. Tiny bathroom. Flat pillows. Thin blanket. Stained carpet. Flaking paintwork. Awful. Never again. Don't believe the website!

This is truly the definition of lost grandeur, old and tired is the best description and eating in such a cavernous room leave little atmosphere. The food was OK but eating out and looking for better atmospheres is an absolute.

Just had a 4 day break at the Palace and thoroughly enjoyed it .The food was excellent as was the staff and the rooms, though a bit outdated , were fine..We also took advantage of the activities that were available for all guests I.e.indoor/outdoor pools, golf, table tennis, snooker. I would heartily recommend this place to anyone of any age,and I hope that the... More
