Stayed for 2 nights this week with parents, had 2 suites booked which were lovely, but service not soo good, staff could not get the food orders correct, waited for our hour just for 4 sandwiches and then they forgot one. Dinner served luke warm, vegetables and salad forgotten, bottle of white wine served warm. Wednesday morning's breakfast- running out... More

My wife and I stayed at the Grand while attending a conference nearby. The immediate impression from the outside confirmed every Fawlty Towers stereotype possible. On being graciously welcomed by a predominantly Slovakian staff, we were taken to our room as we dragged our cases across a carpet with more holes than an Adam Sandler movie plot. The room singularly... More

From the doggy goodie bag in the room to the special arrangements for breakfast the staff couldn't do enough for us! Food is excellent, staff are friendly and location is ideal for the Torquay area. Spent a great evening in the library listening to pianist on Sunday

The hotel was situated a little way out of the main town but a pleasant walk along the seafront made it fine. Pleasant clean room. Breakfast could have been better seeing as it's supposed to be 4-star.....constantly ran out of eggs, bacon etc which was a pain. And don't have the marmalade as the hotel topped up the little jars... More

Though looking somewhat dated, pleasantly surprised on entering the Reception area. Great views from the bar area, were the food and service was of a good standard. Disappointed with the menu and food in the main restaurant, the lamb was tough and service very slow. Bedrooms of a reasonable size but bed and furniture not of a 4 star standard... More

We stayed just one night here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The compass lounge and bar was stylish with great views. Dinner was very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Our room was fine with a comfortable bed. Although we were near a lift, we had a great nights sleep and were undisturbed. A walk along the beautiful seafront before... More

The room was quite dated as was the entire hotel but the view is fabulous. The desk clerk who checked us in was not friendly and very abrupt when asked a question - immediately putting us on guard for everything else. (we did report this to manager when we checked out). The breakfast choices were excellent and very delicious. In... More

A colleague and I visited Torquay on business and used the Grand to host a meeting; we also stayed overnight. Check-in was not great; initially they could not find a record of our booking and I was kept waiting for quite a while. Eventually it was sorted out and I was directed (not shown) to a large but very cheaply... More

Very friendly & helpfull staff ,hotel bit dated but easy to find, good base to travel round Devon, Torquay is not the nicest beaches & the town itself is ok for everyday needs, beaches in town not up too much much better when you travel a few miles out,
