Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Although room had a lovely view of the harbour the hotel feels tired, dull and depressing. The staff were all pleasant but the snacks and drinks were overpriced. The breakfast was poor - 2 days running no marmalade or honey and after asking for scrambled eggs from the kitchen they were inedible. Evening meals... more

My wife and I stayed four nights at this hotel in July 2009.Our room was a premium double with a fantastic view over Torbay. The reception staff were very efficient and the room was clean and spacious.Although we were happy to accept the hotel's environmental policy and use our towels again they were still changed every day.The buffet breakfast did leave... more

My friend and I checked into the Torquay Imperial Hotel for a long weekend from the 26th of June 09 First Impressions were that the lobby was smart and staff were friendly, We had booked Room 214, a suite, which was, i have to say larger than the footprint of many three bed houses i have seen. The room was... more

This hotel has a great location, halfway up a fairly steep hill, but only 2 mins from the harbour and a couple of really nice restaurants. We arrived 2 hours before check-in time, but were still able to go straight to our room,check-in was swift. Our room was a fairly good size with a lovely sea view, had a separate bedroom for our daughter. However,as we have... more

Hotel is in a wonderful location (book a room with a sea view) with lovely balconies equipped wth cushioned recliners. Perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or watching the setting sun. Rooms very large and equipped with good television. Nice gardens and small beach that are worth exploring. I would also recommend walking the coastal path to Thatcher Point -... more

This was our third visit to the Imperial and it will be our last. Our first two visits were when it was a Paramount hotel now it is Barcello the hotel does not compare to how it used to be. To mention just a couple of things... it is very tatty and run down, the breakfast is second rate and... more

Having seen some recent poor reviews on trip adviser we had a few misgivings about booking here but we booked in for two nights and finished up staying an extra night; this says it all really. Check in was quick and smooth, our room was large of high standard with a modern bathroom and a balcony overlooking the sea. We... more

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Imperial hotel Torquay and I am just very relieved I managed to get a deal and didn't pay full price. When we arrived we were told we had been given an upgrade. The bedroom and bed was huge and the view great, but the furnishings were very outdated and... more

It is always sad when you don't meet the expectations of a guest. We do not have air conditioning nor do we advertise this facility. With only a short period of the year warranting this facility the cost of installation would be difficult to justify. When I arrived a little over a year ago I set out to make our...

I recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and young children and overall we were very pleased with the hotel. We had a sea facing family room and we asked for one with a separate room for the children and a fridge and were pleased to find that this had been arranged. The room was very perfectly nice with... more

Thank you for your very balanced review. I do in fact agree with you on all points. Since arriving at the Imperial a little over a year ago we have tried to focus on the quality of service, upgrade of facilities and our food product. The changes have been welcomed by the majority of our guests. Indeed a more friendly...
