Stayed here for two nights for the fireworks championships. We had a lovely big family room on the lower ground floor, we had our grandson with us and the size of the room was ideal. There was a lovely clean ensuite shower room. One slight thing was that the room was under the breakfast room so you could hear people... More

Stayed here oncevand instantly knew it was an amazing place. Very clean friendly and helpful. Family oriented breakfast was very good. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend break away from it all and left feeling refreshed. We booked again and would definitely recommend this lodge for a break be that business or pleasure.

Stayed at the athenaeum lodge a few times now and found it a great place to base yourself for visiting Devon and Cornwall. Nice friendly welcome on your arrival, nice clean and tidy bedrooms and an excellent breakfast. Well worth a visit if you are in the Plymouth area.

Comfortable and convenient for town. The Athenaeum is close to the Quay overlooking the port, and is an easy walk to the town center. The breakfast is superb, with full English on offer, all done with free range ingredients. There is no view to speak of but the room was en-suite, clean and comfortable, with kettle (tea, coffee) and TV.

A very central location with two very friendly hosts. Rooms are well kept with very good Internet connection. The breakfast is one of the best I have sampled. Very close to all the attractions that Plymouth has to offer and within walking distance of a good range of restaurants. I have been there twice now on business and if I... More

We had a nice stay at the Athenaeum Lodge in Plymouth, which is nicely located near the Hoe and 10 minutes walk from the Barbican. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast was of a high standard in addition to plenty of on road parking by the bed and breakfast. However, during the stay the shower hose broke off in... More

Quite clearly from your review scores you have been vindictive because you felt that you were not to blame for the broken shower. However the few comments you made about your stay at the Athenaeum Lodge are good. “We had a nice stay at the Athenaeum Lodge in Plymouth, which is nicely located near the Hoe and 10 minutes walk... We travel from London to visit an aunt a couple of times a year and always stay at the Athenaeum Lodge. David and Jane are very welcoming and happy to give you information on places to eat in the evening and what's on i.e. theatre, cinemas. A very full and varied breakfast menu, cooked to order. Rooms are spotlessly clean,... More

This bed and breakfast was very reasonably priced, in a good location and had parking available. Unfortunately we had to leave very early in the morning - so did not have a chance to try their breakfasts but the place was very clean and had coffee and tea facilities in our room - comfortable beds and so I would certainly...
