Really lovely hotel, spottlessly clean, newly refurbished with lovely modern interior design, friendly staff, great location near city center but quiet. We had a great family room with connecting room for children. Overall a great experience-the new owners really care and are putting a lot of effort into this place. Ignore any previous reviews over a couple of years old... more

As a family of five we find it very difficult booking hotels as most will only accommodate two adults and two children. As our children are young booking two rooms is not an option. The Imperial Hotel made us feel very welcome. They had a large family room with a separate children's bedroom. Accommodating three children was no problem. On... more

Please disregard all previous negative reviews as even Hyacinth Bouquet would be hard pushed to find fault here! We came, we saw, we stayed - again! More than happy to return to the Imperial. Now under the TLC of Louise and Richard who've clearly been as busy as beavers in the summer of 2007 with very sympathetic and tasteful refurbishments.... more

This is a very smart, cosy hotel, conveniently located in a quiet area between The Hoe and the shopping centre. The hotel is decorated and furnished in a pleasant and modern style throughout and looks clean and well cared for. Our room was very chic with a stylish new bathroom, quality bedding, flat panel TV with DVD player and tea-making... more

Just a quick note to thank all the staff at The Imperial Plymouth for their fantastic welcome and hospitality during our recent stay. Being a novice to Plymouth, I found Richard's advice very informative which helped me get more from my stay. Whilst I was there, they had just been awarded 5 star guest house status. I'm not sure exactly... more

We stayed for a night in August and nothing was too much trouble. The new decor was beautifully done with great attention to detail in our rooms. We were made very welcome, despite 2 very over-excited 15 year old girls with us. Poor Steve ! Thanks to both Steve and Louise. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Good... more

I have to say, I don't recognise the hotel described by "poison dwarf"- I suspect there has been a change of management since. We couldn't have been made more welcome - nothing was too much trouble for the staff - the manager even lent our friends a cd to take on their long journey home! Our room was spacious, well... more

Our one night stay (out of a planned seven) could not have been worse. The rooms were not clean; the kettle provided had a layer of dust on it; basic items such as a lamp and shower head hook were broken; one of the showers had a delightful black mould clinging to the ceiling - when informed of this the... more

The decor was dated and tatty. The menu was poor and did not cater for vegetarians or children that did not want something deep fried. The staff were rude with appalling customer service skills. They were not equipped to deal with group bookings despite being happy to accept the money. more

Very nice place to stay. All the staff and owners have a great sense of duty and humour. Generous meals and good beds! Certainly will come again more
