The guest house was excellent value for money. Booked one night stay with friends. The room itself was clean and tidy. Jen, the caretaker of the house was very helpful and cooked us breakfast and topped up without any hesitation. It is peaceful, easy to locate and is highly recommended for anyone staying in Plymouth.

My experience is very similar to a February review. I booked online and paid in full earlier this year for a twin and a single room for a one night stay in May as my companions and I travelled along the SW coast path. The day before I received a voicemail message from the landlady in which she said as... More

The occasion was unfortunately to attend a funeral of a former colleague of my Mum, but it didn't stop me from enjoying my stay. The hostess was a lovely lady and made me feel very welcome from the start, with treats and things. Just around the corner was a nice park to run around in and the Hoe, which was... More

Such a lovely welcome from the host. She was also lovely with our dog Dilly, whom she made to feel welcome too. The bedroom was light and airy, a family room, a double, with adjoining single bedroom, with a dividing door. The room was ensuite, with a great shower. Breakfast was cooked freshly on our arrival to the dining room... More

Recently stayed one night at the Rusty Anchor. The good point is that it's conveniently located on Plymouth Hoe and a quick stroll along the Hoe to the Barbican. Have stayed in lots of B&B's and to be honest, most have been better than the Rusty Anchor. It was OK, but lots of little things made it a wholly uninspiring... More

Last week I booked online for a 2 day stay in March at The Rusty Anchor and paid my £50.25 deposit via Paypal as requested. Within about an hour, Jan the owner emailed me from an iPad asking me which account I had paid into. I was baffled by her question as the receipt I got gave the Rusty Anchor... More

We stayed for a couple of nights & were made very welcome. We have 2 young children & had the family room on the top floor. It was a good size & it can be divided when the little ones go to bed it was also clean. The breakfast was good & would recommend.

Stayed here for two nights whilst settling youngest son into University. Jan made us very welcome on arrival with tea and biscuits all round. Perfect after a long journey. rooms are comfortable and clean and breakfast sets you up for the day. The Rusty Anchor is right next to the sea yet only 10 mins walk into town. it was... More

We only stayed one night but were made very welcome. The location was great and we had a lovely walk into the city ( not far) while enjoying the sea views. Breakfast set us up for the day and we enjoyed the homemade bread.

On it's website this guesthouse claims to provide luxury b&b with stunning views - this was NOT what my husband & I experienced. Our "en suite" double room was so small and crammed that we had difficulty negotiating around the double bed. There was a shower cubicle ( one stepped directly out onto the bedroom carpet when exiting ) and... More
