I found this B&B on the internet and needed a one night stay for myself, my best friend and my 11 year old daughter near the centre of Plymouth as we were visiting my daughter, who is at University in Plymouth. Location fantastic for town, restaurants etc. Road quite busy, although we did have a room at the front, so... more

I travel to Plymouth regularly and have stayed at a variety of hotels and guest houses but on this occasion was travelling with my daughter and my favourite one didn't have a twin room available. Before booking I read the reviews and thought it would be just right for an over night stop whilst visiting family. Perhaps the other rooms... more

We were very impressed with the personal service we recived from Louise and Joe the landlords. They put themselves out to serve us breakfast one hour earlier than normal as we were visiting theConvention at Plymouth at the time. The rooms were basic but clean ,reasonably priced for the time of year,,had tv's iron and hairdryer supplied.Nothing was too much trouble, and... more

I initially emailed an enquiry regarding prices and availability to The Avalon and to my surprise received an almost immediate reply answering all my queries and informing my that if I preferred I could book securely online, which I eventually did. The Avalon's book online process was extremely simple and user friendly and I received a confirmation email. During my... more

Having just returned from a lovely short break in Plymouth I felt I must add a few words about the Avalon. On arrival we were welcomed by a friendly, welcoming lady who introduced herself as the owner. We were shown to our room and couldn't have been more pleased. At £55 per night we did not expect to find such... more

Our first trip to Plymouth, England. We stayed for 3 nights in the Avalon Guest House. The most important thing is that the rooms are clean. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Don't forget to try the full Englisch Breakfast, hmmm!! We will come back!! more

We got to our doubleroom with onsuite on the ground floor, room no 2, at about 11pm to find it as cold as a fridge because a window had been left wide open. In order to put our clothes into the wardrobe, which was no more than a cupboard in the wall, we had to move the bed to one... more

This B&B was recommended by my usual hotel I stay because they were full. I have not stayed in a B&B for a long time,I tend to stay in hotels every week for my business travelling. However this B&B has dramatically changed my view of bed and breakfast venues. The owner is very welcoming and the building is situated in a great... more

Without doubt, the location of this guest house is excellent... However, we originally booked for two nights and left after one because we were so miserable. Why? Well, there are no photographs of cramped attic rooms on the website, but believe me, they exist because, having booked a family room for three adults and a toddler, we got what we... more

Management response from

As the owner of The Avalon Guest House I would like to respond to this review as follows. At no time did this guest convey their feelings to me although I am on hand at all times. In fact they stated their reason for leaving was because of the long drive they had and wanted to set off early. The...
