I am sitting in my lovely room at The Avalon writing this review on a laptop which has very kindly been lent to my by the owners. As a business traveller I booked a two night stay at this guest house due to their offer of free wifi knowing I would have to catch up on some work. On settling... more

Having just returned from a lovely short break in Plymouth I felt I must add a few words about the Avalon. On arrival we were welcomed by a friendly, welcoming lady who introduced herself as the owner. We were shown to our room and couldn't have been more pleased. At £55 per night we did not expect to find such... more

Our first trip to Plymouth, England. We stayed for 3 nights in the Avalon Guest House. The most important thing is that the rooms are clean. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Don't forget to try the full Englisch Breakfast, hmmm!! We will come back!! more

We got to our doubleroom with onsuite on the ground floor, room no 2, at about 11pm to find it as cold as a fridge because a window had been left wide open. In order to put our clothes into the wardrobe, which was no more than a cupboard in the wall, we had to move the bed to one... more

This B&B was recommended by my usual hotel I stay because they were full. I have not stayed in a B&B for a long time,I tend to stay in hotels every week for my business travelling. However this B&B has dramatically changed my view of bed and breakfast venues. The owner is very welcoming and the building is situated in a great... more

Without doubt, the location of this guest house is excellent... However, we originally booked for two nights and left after one because we were so miserable. Why? Well, there are no photographs of cramped attic rooms on the website, but believe me, they exist because, having booked a family room for three adults and a toddler, we got what we... more

As the owner of The Avalon Guest House I would like to respond to this review as follows. At no time did this guest convey their feelings to me although I am on hand at all times. In fact they stated their reason for leaving was because of the long drive they had and wanted to set off early. The...

We used this hotel as our base for doing the Plymouth half marathon. We wanted somewhere with reasonable prices in a nice part of town and followed the reviews we found on here. The Avalon is situated just behind Plymouth Hoe and the park/seafront area, which is a really nice part of town. You can walk into the centre and... more

I actually live in Plymouth but regularly use Hotels and Guest Houses to accommodate visiting relatives. I had never used the Avalon before but as the usual accommodation I use was very busy and unable to accommodate my requirements I consulted Trip Adviser and due to my not being familiar with the Avalon called in on "the off chance" to... more

I just spent a couple of days in Plymouth Christmas shopping - staying at The Avalon - really surprised at the high standard of accommodation. The rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean all with colour tv, complimentary tea and coffee and free internet access - wow!!!! more

Decent little guest house at reasonable price. Good breakfast provided. One minor inconvenience is with the towel situation, only 1 provided per person and this was not replaced by default, when the room was cleaned, for 2nd night. With no way to dry towels mine was still wet from shower the night before so had to ask for another the... more
