We booked this as a late availability and were not expecting too much however the location is convenient for most places ,nothing is too much trouble for the staff who were all friendly ,polite and extremely helpful. Nicky in particular at the reception was very efficient and also gave invaluable advice to help us make the most of a short... more

We had stayed at the Copthorne on our previous visit to Plymouth and turned up without a booking as we had been visiting relatives in North Devon. The receptionist was very friendy and within 5 minutes had booked us a room, which was large, clean and tidy, and checked us in while we parked the car. The Hotel is located... more

Just returned home from a two night stay at the Copthorne Hotel Plymouth. I travelled with an elderly mother and two teenagers. In our room they had provided an extra bed and going by past experiences we were wondering if the room would be large enough-but there was plenty of room for all three beds. We all found the hotel staff... more

Background - I was on a business trip, arrived and left via rail. First, the Good - Excellent location-close to rail, coach, business district, tourist attractions well within walking distance, and THE most comfortable beds/pillows I have slept in in a long time (and I spend a lot of time in hotels)! The staff was friendly, adn they have a... more

This is a middle of the range hotel and it is good for what it is. The room was basic but clean. It is conveniently located near the railway station, however is a longish walk away from the tourist attractions. My English breakfast was very good and served fast! more

My partner and I dined in the restaurant having not tried it before, but thought being a 4* hotel it should be quite special. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. There were four members of staff and no more than six tables dining, however the service was appalling. We ordered a bottle of wine which must have taken over ten minutes... more

I pulled up outside reception, unloaded the car and went to check in. I asked the receptionist if somebody would park my car for me and was told " No, we are not insured to do that, you'll have to park in the carpark yourself" I suppose I take it for granted that staff will be polite and offer this... more

We stay regularly at the Copthorne and are very surprised by the negative reviews here. We actually go again tomorrow for the weekend. We never upgrade - always have a standard room and find the beds really comfortable, staff very friendly and sometimes have a bar snack which is good. We usually have the breakfast included and seriously can find... more

Stayed at this hotel for two nights, although the staff were nice and friendly, the hotel is very old and is in a poor shape. We booked a deluxe double room (supposedly a suite) which was extremely small, and too out of date. The place seriously needs a major revamp to put it at par with the standards today, especially... more

Five years ago I stayed in this City Centre hotel. How can things change in such a short time? The overall impression is of an institution struggling on the verge of financial collapse. Arrival was typical English greeting at 1pm. "Yes we have your reservation, but there's no room ready". I guess she had nothing to smile about. No coffee... more
