I booked this hotel despite the reviews and really cannot complain. People seem to expect 4 star luxury for £63 a night BB for two in a city centre hotel. The hotel is grotty from the outside but hey take a look at the other large chain Plymouth hotels. The City centre itself is a 1960's nightmare except for the... more

Stayed in this hotel with my partner. The location in Plymouth couldnt be better. I was impressed by the lobby, it was well decorated and I had high hopes for the rest of the hotel. The room itself, although clean, was quite small and dark. Breakfast was ok........bar food was overpriced, and limited because the fryer was broken apparently. I... more

We stayed at the Copthorne because it gave us easy access on foot to the city. In order to check in early, we agreed to upgrade our room but were rather disappointed with it. despite the perks of free movies, internet access and soft drinks. The bed was quite small, and most of the furnishings appeared tired. The room was... more

I stayed in this hotel for one night in March on business. I do not have any gripes about the location of the hotel or cleanliness. My gripe is with the service that I received. My breakfast was put on the table in front of me, I looked at it and immedately spotted a black public hair on my tomato.... more

I stayed here last week for work. It is very convenient for the railway station, the university and the town centre. It is only a 5 min walk to the station. The decor is a bit tired and olf fashioned. The room itself was comfortable with a good double bed and a small sofa. It was clean, well lit, and... more

Not in a bad location for central Plymouth, but overall the place is a bit of a shambles. It’s all just tatty and old, and staffed by a bunch of unsupervised 16 year olds which seemed to mean that basically service was non existent. Everything was too much trouble it seemed. Breakfast isn’t, as described elsewhere on here ‘a wonderful... more

We chose the Copthorne for its location near the University and shops, and price (£85 incl breakfast). Not cheap but not really expensive either, so I suppose we weren't expecting great things. Room fine, large enough, clean, decor a bit dated. Breakfast OK, good amount of choice, but we had a table with no menu so didn't realise you could... more

Stayed here for business last week. We usually have an overnight stay and then have the conference at the hotel the next day. Arrived the night before and checked in to be told I had a twin room, I asked to see the booking as I know we always book doubles and I was told they couldnt find it and... more

We wouldn't go back here. Reception staff barely helpful. They didn't seem bothered that they'd given us a twin room when we'd booked a double. It seemed an inconvienience for them to look for a double for us, no apology. We did eventually get a double though. Breakfast was awful. Food was barely warm and selection was poor. There were... more

I stayed for one night on business. As someone who stays in well known chains weekly, I felt very let down by this hotel. The decor was very dated and there were marks all over the carpet, lights not working, peeling wallpaper, mould in bathroom.... I could go on. To make matters worse, I found that the hotel did not... more
