First the positives; The location in the town centre is excellent. The staff are very helpful, professional and courteous. The dinning area is very pretty, with an amazing dome and chandelier. The continental and cooked breakfast are of a good standard. Now the negatives, mostly centred around the rooms; At first I stayed in room 107, despite it being a... More

Stayed with my partner and 18 month old girl for one night, was moved rooms because another guest complained about theres which turned out fine as the new room was better. Reception staff were rude and not very friendly. Got to our room and there were kids running around on the roof outside of our bedroom window how they got... More

I think this hotels' staircase rates as on of the best, grand, gorgeous circular staircase with the enormous windows would be lovely to curl up with a book on a sunning winter morning. Quaint rooms. The restaurant looked lovely but we didn't get a chance to try it, looked popular. Had convenient parking at the back of the hotel.

We stayed here for one night before taking the ferry to Santander. On the same route in future we will look for lodgings out of town instead. Saturday night in Plymouth was noisy and the town has little to recommend it really. Most of the Tripadvisor recommended places of interest are either pubs or clubs and one of the top... More

Stayed a few nights on business while in Plymouth. The hotel is well positioned close to most of the major businesses in the area and to the town centre but far enough away from the noisy areas. The room I had was very large, clean and comfortable, although a four poster bed was wasted on me, but nevertheless it was... More

I often stay here (4-5 times now) when i visit Plymouth as it is in a good location to explore both the town and the Barbican. We stayed in a twin room near the top floor and we were disappointed. The room was small and needed some work. The bed was comfortable though. The breakfast was good. I cant help... More

A lovely old hotel, single rooms very small, but quirky, compact and bijou. Rooms were very clean, so was the ensuite. Parking difficult, but got sorted in the end. lounge bar very comfortable and staff friendly. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Good location, easy walk to bars and restaurants

Location good for The Hoe and a short 10/15 minute walk to the Barbican. Stayed here for a Wedding in July. Staff very accommodating and pleasant. We had the Four Poster Room 305 which was huge. Faced the road so maybe a little noisy if your a light sleeper. Bed very comfy, think a little dated but it goes with... More

I visit Devon and Cornwall monthly and always stay at "the Duke". The staff are very welcoming and are always polite and friendly, the hotel itself has a grand history dating back at least 150 years. Clean, well positioned reasonably priced and with spacious rooms make any stay comfortable. Great food from the restaurant menu or something more traditional from... More
