The owners are beyond nice, and well go above and beyond the call of service to help a guest. Can't wait to stay again. Great location, not too far from the centre. If you're new to the area make sure to hire a cab since at night like in most cities traveling alone can get a bit lost.

We reached The Citadel House after a pleasant walk across town from the rail station, along a well-maintained paved walkway. The B & B was not hard to find and is conveniently located near the Plymouth Hoe where all the action is. We were greeted upon arrival by the very nice proprietor, Norma. She was very accommodating and was able,... More

On arriving at the Citadel, we were greeted by the most LOVELY woman you could ever wish for. The hotel was perfect, everything we needed was provided and the owner was more than happy to help us with everything! Perfect location, a short walk away from all the hustle and bustle, but we couldn't hear a thing at night while... More

The Citadel House is an old fashioned but very pleasant and cosy hotel, the staff are more than helpful and serve an adequate breakfast. The rooms are not huge but ours was plenty big enough. There are all the normal facilities you would expect but remember this is not a swish modern hotel so if you want that try premier... More

I have seen a lot of bad reviews on this Hotel have been wrote. But I can only think they are very much exaggerated, I found the hotel to be clean, friendly, comfortable and a nice breakfast. Parking needs to be paid for during the day and later in the evening a space can be difficult to find.

We were supposed to stay at this place from the 8th to the 10th, our room was 6 flights of stairs at the top, hotel isn't that clean quite dusty, room defiantly needed modernizing and needed a new bed, but the horror for us was to wake up and find blood in the bed then on closer inspection we found... We stayed here for 2 nights afew weekends ago & it was very good value for money. We arrived late but that was no trouble for the owner. She let us in, gave us our key & breakfast info & was very welcoming. We were given a family room which was a good size & it was very clean. In... More

The land lady of the Citadel saved our bacon as we were booked into another place across town in Devonport. That place was terrible, but this place was like the cavalry! Location is 3 mins walk from a view of The Hoe, and about 5 mins walk from The Hoe itself. The rooms are Ok ; the breakfast might not... More

Very disappointed. The bath towel was small and had the texture of a rusty cheese grater! The soap in tiny shower room was the size of a stamp! Shower gel was blue with lumpy white globules of god knows what! Norma had promised us we'd have fresh coffee for breakfast....the cafetiere arrived caked in dust and clearly wasn't fresh coffee... It has been a year since my husband and I visited this hotel and this was my first trip to england, the staff were very welcoming and I really enjoyed the breakfast options. This hotel is located in a really convenient and pretty area.
