The hotel is located (as named) directly at the cliff with beautiful sea view. Furthermore you can reach Lynton quite easy. For getting to Lynmouth you can either take the famous cable-car or make a stroll downhill - don't forget you need to walk uphill afterwards. The rooms are a little bit old fashioned and quite small but clean and... More

We enjoyed staying at the North Cliff Hotel for two nights in July 2014. The staff was always very friendly and helpful and the location and view are great. We had a spacious room with view on the bay and harbour, the bathroom being a bit oldish and the bed not perfectly comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed these... More

We probably got the last available family room at the very last minute. The hotel wasn't our first choice...but at the end we liked it quite a lot. The family room was spacious and clean, with a good view of the bay. Excellent breakfast. Children's liked the Lynton/Lynmouth cable car passing almost inside the hotel....

My husband and I decided to come here for a weekend getaway and what a delightful weekend it was. The hotel itsel is charming and the views, I can't describe the view, other than it's similar to the Northern California coastal views. Not far is a short walk to entrance to the Valley of Rocks, an absolutely breath taking trail.... More

Been to Lynton and Lynmouth on many occasions, but first time we stayed and the hotel was excellent, with great views and breakfast was great, with a good selection of things to eat. The view from our room was right next to the water railway. Would definitely stay their again.

Was lovely coming back to a town where we stayed for family holidays. Hotel was lovely. Rooms very nice over looking the sea from the cliff. Food was brilliant. Feel the guy could have smiled more though. He was working on the reception and changed to the bar a lot. The breakfast lady was lovely and had a great chat... More

It has been much too long since we visited this lovely hotel but I just wanted to respond to a few comments about driving and parking at the Northcliff. Yes the car park is a bit on the "tight" side but, with care, not a problem. If full there is always space just a few yards further down the road.... More

When some of the reviews say the place is dated - it just means the decor is more old fashioned than modern. There is nothing tired or tatty about this place - it certainly is one of the cleanest places I have stayed. The towels smell lovely - of fabric softener, it's really homely and the breakfasts are really good.... More

Stayed here during the Easter Bank Holiday after we found this place on a ‘dog friendly hotels’ website. The drive (from Berkshire) to Exmoor was amazing and driving into Lynmouth and Lynton is great, it felt like we were abroad! Luckily the car park was almost empty (I read some comments here about the car park being crammed) and when... More

This place is like stepping back in time & visiting your Gran's house (in a nice way). Clean, comfortable and peppered with little quirks that will make you smile & take you back to childhood, such as lemon marmalade at breakfast (hadn't seen that for years), heavy anaglypta wallpaper painted with gloss and sets of country scene plates hanging on...
