Excellent location with sea views. Very clean and well kept. Steep steps up from parking area may make it unsuitable for some travellers. Dinner and service were fine, but we mostly dined in the nearby restaurants because they were livelier. The cooked breakfast was excellent. It's a perfect hotel if you are looking for a small, quiet, somewhat old-fashioned, family-run... more

I liked this place. It's in a great location but the walk down to Lynmouth isn't a gentle stroll! It is very steep! The rooms were large and clean and had a sea view. My only pick would be the dated bathroom, but to be fair, they are due to be updated. The breakfast was freshly cooked and hot. Everything... more

My fiancée and I stayed for only one night. This was due to the fact our visit was not for pleasure but for a family bereavement. I am originally from Lynton having grown up and lived there until I left for University 12 years ago, so I know the area well. My fiancée actually chose and booked this hotel for... more

Had a great time at this hotel - everyone was very friendly and even held dinner over for us as we were late arriving - much apprecitaed. Dinner was good quality and freshly cooked. Breakfast one of the best my husband has ever had!! Position of hotel means the views from our room were amazing - or just a ten... more

This hotel was everything that I hoped it would be having first read the reviews. We were greeted warmly and the service, both on the reception and at meal times, was excellent. We found the owner to be chatty and hospitable without being intrusive. In fact, his level of professional service is rarely seen now, even in the bigger hotels.... more

This hotel is a real mix of positives and negatives. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the hotel owner, who throughout our three day stay went out of his way to provide helpful tips and guidance about the area. We had booked a double room but were upgraded to a king size room with a fantastic view (given the... more

In response to the remark on our eclectic match of ‘old and new’ we are very aware that some of the existing bathroom suites are out-dated and in the three years that we have owned the hotel, some £75,000 has been spent on refurbishing the hotel's bathrooms and infrastructure (hot water and heating system). There are now three bathrooms to...

We booked this hotel with high hopes - having read the reviews. Overall we had great difficulty sleeping due to the comings and goings of the owners families who were living there. Even after asking politely! that on our final day when we had a long journey ahead of us that they could keep a little quieter after 11pm and... more

As a family run business, we do not like hearing that our guests were less than very pleased with their stay. The guests in question did raise their concerns with us at reception, before their early departure on a trip to Lundy Island in the morning. We were more than happy to address any problems they had. However, on their...
