What is it with these north Devon hotels? Sometimes, the location just isn't enough. Take the Lynton Cottage. It's perched high above Lynmouth, the views are magnificent, and it's a mere stone's through from the wonderful little winding streets of Lynton. My boyfriend and I have just spent the weekend there. Upon arriving we walked into the foyer to be... more

Having just returned from our fifth visit I felt compelled to write a review. The owners of the hotel, Heather, Dave, Allan and Bettina, work extremely hard to make every visit special. Whilst we were there they received a 5 star rating for cleanliness - there can't be many hotels in Devon that can boast this! Apart from the stunning... more

I booked one night at the Lynton Cottage Hotel and then saw the reviews on trip advisor! I did panic at first but told myself that people mostly write about bad experiences and not good ones. Upon entering the hotel reception I noticed the guest book full of positive comments and started to relax! The staff were friendly and the... more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and cannot fault anything. The food was excellent and of good quality. We stayed in the bay view room which has a fantasic view. The room was just wonderful and very clean. I would like to say that all the staff we had the pleasure of meeting were all very nice... more

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend, a dinner bed and breakfast deal. The room we had was fine, a bit basic and lacking in sockets -- but more than made up for by the balcony and the amazing view. Furniture nice and in good repair, the bathroom nicely styled, clean etc although the hot water pressure was a... more

The experience of visting here is ruined (twice) by the unfriendly male co-owner, who seems to think that 'hospitality' means not saying anything when he hands you a menu. All the women working there seemed a model of friendliness, though the gentleman co-owner needs to go on a course to develop people skills, or get out of the hotel profession... more

We did not stay in this hotel but it was recommended that we eat in the restaurant due to its great food and fabulous views. A booking was duly made and we arrived - no a la carte menu and, despite the request when booking, no table with a view. The pigeon breast starter was possibly the toughest piece of... more

Stayed in this hotel a few nights ago. The reception we received was cold and unwelcoming. The room was small, interior rather poor and the bath did not even have a proper bathtub, all for a price of £82 per night. The waitress at breakfast was the rudest waiter/waitress we have ever come across and practically screamed at us before... more

We are frequent visitors to Lynmouth and had previously stayed at The Tors (opposite in picture). We were not impressed by our last visit there and so looked for something different. A trawl of the Internet found us The Lynton Cottage. Our 4 night visit in July exceeded all expectations. The service was warm and friendly. The food and wine... more

We stayed for 3 nights on a DB&B basis in Room 2. It was very spaciious and comfortably furnished with two easy chairs looking over the sea. What a view! Food was excellent as usual and continue to exceed it star rating. We have stayed here for a number of years and one of the main reasons we keep coming... more
