Our fourth visit to this hotel and have already booked for next year . The bay room (room 6) has stunning views GREAT PEOPLE ,great food ,and great service that always lives up to it star ratings. Contrary to other reviews Mathew the chef is accomadating even removing shrimps from a rissotto in one dish to please my awkward wife... more

We found this a very agreeable place to stay for the three nights that we were there. The first thing one sees when driving in is the welcoming sign `Bar Open’, as indeed it was. Apart from the terrace (rather cold and windy when we were there) there are three sitting/bar areas, so if there is a largish party, it... more

We have just returned from Lynton, north Devon where we spent four nights at the Lynton Cottage hotel which is situated in a stunning location overlooking Lynmouth with far reaching coastal views. We stayed in a standard twin room which, although on the small side, was nevertheless warm, clean and comfortable and commanded the wonderful views previously mentioned. The food... more

We chose to have a quiet weekend to celebrate a birthday and thought North Devon would be just right. It was, the hotel was very comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were extremely friendly. Although the hotel itself is one of the oldest in Lynton, our room was nicely decorated and was large enough to accommodate a very comfortable, bed... more

I have been going to this hotel regularly for the last 6 years having first found it over 20 years ago. The last trip I took all my family, my four children and their partners, and the grand children. Our stay was, as ever , excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The accomodation was... more

A very disappointing experience - our welcome from David, one of the partners was cold and seemed to be too much trouble. The room was scruffy, paper peeling off the wall, carpet rough around the edges, balcony not swept, dirty ashtray left on it. Had heard the food was good, so we gave it the benefit of the doubt and... more

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. We love the views, the hospitality and the food. The Lynton Cottage is ideally situated and must have the best views in Lynton, our little shi tzu loves the walk from the hotel to the valley of the rocks although he would climb the cliffs to get to the goats if... more

My Husband and I stayed at the Lynton Cottage with our two Dachsunds this weekend, The views from the hotel were outstanding. We had a sea view room and you could see Wales on a clear day. Breakfast was lovely, and plentiful and full of choice, We also ate in the restaurant in the evening, food was to die for,... more

We wanted a place near the sea, comfortable, clean, well kept, with good views and good food. And that's exactly what we found here. There are some aspects to this place which some people will find a bit odd; indeed some of the reviews on here point them out. But we would say chill out a bit and go with... more

We read on the menu in our room that more simple food tastes could be accommodated willingly. In the dining room, my husband preferring simple food asked the barman if they could please make an omelette. The reply was just "NO SIR" - no explanation and a taciturn, non explanatory response by the barman which spoiled our evening. One would... more
