We were ready to break our journey for a midday snack and liked the look of the outside. The new owner was happy to tell us about his recent purchase and the work that needed doing on the hotel. The pub side looked good and we liked what we were served. If we pass this way again we will be... More

We arrived at the camp site next door expecting The Beggars Roost pub to be shut as it was a year ago when we were last here. New owners have moved in, the bar is refurbished and open, and the hotel is undergoing a lot of work by the look of things. Beer good, mostly Exmoor Ales when we were... More

I would really like to think the owners of this place read the reviews and consider carefully what people write. They are going downhill from what I could see and need to either stop trading or go for a course on how to run a B&B. Starting with a query I could not solve via phone call because no one... More

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here as last time it was passable and as it is such a lovely location thought we would come again . It was just over a year ago our last visit and we couldn't believe how down hill it has gone !!.As the other reviews dark damp reception with nobody around most... More

Have been meaning to leave a review for this place for a while now. As other people have said, the location is beautiful, but the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. There was nobody on reception when we arrived, the dirt and dust was immediately noticeable. Our room smelt of damp, decor was tatty and the room generally grubby... More

where to start!'. No staff on reception Desk. No staff. No heating. Electric trips each time you want lights and to use a socket. Fusing entire hotel. Don't even know how to discribe the disgusting rooms. Not to mention the dark disgusting restaurant. To have the cold full English Breakfast. we stayed in this fastable 'forty towers' joke for 2... I will start by saying my husband and I booked in here for our first annaversary how disapointing it was. After reading the reviews we thought we must be in the wrong place when we arrived. From the outside not bad tatty and untidy but ok. Then it gets worse. Starting with no telephone or internet but told three different... More

Room was smelly and in a terrible state. The carpet was badly stained and the bathroom was unfinished. Tiles missing, a tap that turned 180 degrees and the coldest room ever. Had to sleep half dressed to get warm. The wardrobe doors were stuck so nowhere to hang things. The food in the adjoining pub was disgusting and the order was... More

We booked a twin room two weeks in advance. When we arrived the hotel looked run down and a bad state of repair. There seem to be only 2 people as staff, helping at the bar, restaurant and the B&B. We were shown a room in a dark corridor with no lighting, and the first thing that hit you on... More

We are not hard to please but our stay in this hotel was not good for several reasons. It is run by a woman called Donna and her father. They are both very pleasant people and seem to be working very hard but I wonder if they have bitten off more than they can chew as attention to detail is... More
