Recently stayed at Shelley's. Had not read reviews first however not surprised at the good rating this hotel has. Made to feel very welcome. It's a very friendly hotel in a great location and would recommend it to anyone. Will definitely look to visit again.

We booked Shelley's based on reviews from the website. Upon arrival we were not disappointed as we received a warm friendly welcome from Jane and Richard. The whole of the hotel was clean and well presented. Breakfasts were great and noting was to much trouble for Jane or Richard as they ensured all was well. It was nice that they... More

We have been visiting Lynmouth for over twenty years and have always stayed at The Tors Hotel in the past, but we decided it was time for a change! We received a warm welcome at Shelley's and were extremely happy with our choice. Our visit coincided with a mini heat wave which was an added bonus. We stayed in room... More

My first trip to North Devon, Lynmouth is an excellent base, Shelley's was perfect for our needs although not quite up to what I might expect. Nice clean rooms, Jane and RIchard were really friendly and clearly work very hard for the season that they are open. Breakfasts were great. But I do have to concur with some other reviews... More

We were on a two week junket around London, Hampshire, Devin and Cornwall, and we stayed at Shelleys for two nights. Both the hotel and the town of Lynmouth were a delight. We loved the setting, the room was fab with a conservatory and balcony that opened onto the gorge. The owners are very helpful, and seemed to genuinely care... More

Far from the madding crowd, we have just returned from a great stay at Shelley's. It was lovely to sit in our conservatory and just people watch........very relaxing, spectacular views....beauticful sunsets. Jane & Richard are great hosts; spotlessly clean room; freshly cooked wide choice of breakfast. We dined out at the Oak Room in Lynton and the Rsing Sun &... More

I always feel a good test of my experience of an hotel is to answer the question "Would I stay there again?". Sadly in the case of Shelley's the answer is an emphatic "NO". First of all it claims to be an hotel. I think that is somewhat misleading. They do not provide meals (apart from breakfast) or accommodate children... More

We stayed at Shelley's for 2 nights in the Bay Room. Overall, our stay was fine but we were left feeling a little disappointed having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. The hotel was pleasant and clean and the owners were friendly. However, we did not experience the 'luxury' and 5 star experience that others have reported in their reviews. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stay where 19C English Romantic poet 'Percy Bysshe Shelley' honeymooned during the Summer of 1812. Shelley's in Exmoor National Park is an award winning hotel with commanding spectacular views across Lynmouth Bay. We have lovingly restored it to a very high standard throughout to create a warm, friendly and welcoming ambience. Under our personal supervision it has developed it's very own unique character, elegance and style that comes only from attention to detail. ... more   less
