Yet again we have returned to the wonderful North Devonshire Town of Lynmouth to stay at The Rising Sun. We always try to stay in 'Shelleys Cottage'. This time we were delighted to find that it has been upgraded. The whole cottage has had the most amazing changes to compliment your stay. The cottage sits on its own with stunning... More

We stayed for one night only: we liked the room (one of the most expensive on offer) for his decoration, cleanness and charm. Yet, the heating was not working properly, which is not entirelyunexpected since it is a XIV century building. We dined at the restaurant and we enjoyed the food very much. The breakfast was a fest: I will... More

My wife and I recently visited The Rising Sun using a voucher. This included a three course dinner, a night accommodation and breakfast. It is a pleasant cob and thatch country pub, with low ceilings, oak beams and quite possibly not a single even surface. This was just the sort of place we’d been looking for. When booking we asked... Situated on the harbour at Lynmouth, looking out to the Foreland and Countisbury Hill, the Rising Sun is a gem of a pub/hotel. Thatched roof, thick stone walls and bags of atmosphere. The food and drink are not the cheapest around but you have to bear in mind the location, and the type of establishment. If you want fast food... More

Thank you very much for your review. We feel very privileged to be located in such beautiful settings and are always glad to hear that our customers agree. We met two friends who were staying at the Rising Sun, whilst we stayed a 100m up the road in the Lyn Valley Hotel. After comparing rooms, ours at almost half the price looked exactly the same. We ate dinner in the Rising Sun and whilst we would rate the food to be Very Good, the prices are grossly over... More

I have been here on a couple of occasions both for lunch and dinner! The service in here is constantly good as is the food and the menu is well thought out. The drinks selection is nice especially if you like ales. Altogether id keep coming back wit every visit to lunmouth and the surrounding areas.

Stayed here in September 2014. Room was small but very well appointed. The view from the bedroom window was to the North overlooking the harbour. The bed was comfortable and the room was kept spotless. It is an ancient inn with old floors, walls and joists. It has wonderful history. There is a quite sitting room away from the bar... More

The Rising Sun is a lovely place to stay, but very expensive nearly £7.00 for a glass of wine and £3.85 for a pint of cider. I found the food prices quite high, I ordered the scallops for a starter on the Saturday night and nearly fell off my chair when it was brought up three of the tiniest scallops... More
