We recently stayed at the picturesque 'Rising Sun' in Lymouth, a pretty thatched 14th century inn. Prior to leaving, we had read several negative 'Trip Advisor' reviews and were somewhat fearful of what awaited us. We needn't have worried! 'The Rising Sun' is an absolutely super hotel, we could not fault it in any way. Our room was delightful with... more

We have just returned from a weekend at the Rising Sun, we have stayed there every year at least once, sometimes more. The food was excellent, and the hotel staff all very polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they served you with a smile, we recommend them to anybody who wants a relaxing comfortable stay. more

We booked the Rising Sun a few nights before going to Lynmouth and were given a discount of £50 off the usual rate of £150 for a couple B&B. For £150 you would expect a great room and excellent service. Starting with the positive the setting is great and the food in the bar is very good with a good... more

Found this place by chance and booked in when only one room available. Sea Views amazing. Fantastic residents lounge next to our room with doors onto patio. Room had very tiny shower room but cosy and the views outside made the interior almost irrelevant. Fantastic meal in restaurant, great company in bar and all staff we met were first class.... more

We live nearby but we booked in for a treat over the bank holiday. We were in the hotel at the same time as the previous reviewer and he was a very demanding and unreasonable customer. We found the staff and the owners so helpful and very attentive. The rooms are lovely and the hotel is full of character. The... more

I've never spent £120 on such a small room. Just three channels on the tiny old TV (plus one in Welsh), no shower, a bed several inches shorter than me and its over the bar so very noisy. Having checked the website and confirmed by phone that the room would be like the ones in the pics, I wasn't at... more

My husband and I stayed here last New Year - have been meaning to write this for ages!! I can honestly say it was more than expected. The staff were kind and could not be more helpful. The food was marvelous and the entertainment on New Year's Eve with fireworks and dancing and a wonderful meal. What particularly impressed us... more

Had a really nice sea-view room, full of character and charm. The corridors and other communal areas could do with some updating as could the bathroom in our room, but generaly pleased with the accomodation. Decided to eat in the bar the night we stayed, what a massive mistake that was, Langoustine and Courgette risotto, well to say it was... more

We stayed in Lynmouth for a week and were lucky enough to have eaten in the restaurant twice. Yes it's very very busy at the evening meal times but that is easily rectified by booking. The bar and restaurant are also well supported by locals which we always take as a good sign.that the food is good (the beer is... more

We booked this place at the last minute as we wanted to get away from the awful grey Easter weather in the south-east - the west was unbroken sunshine ! This was one of the very few places with availability, and to be honest I had no idea where Lynmouth was ! Anyway, it was a good choice of destination,... more
