Had a really nice sea-view room, full of character and charm. The corridors and other communal areas could do with some updating as could the bathroom in our room, but generaly pleased with the accomodation. Decided to eat in the bar the night we stayed, what a massive mistake that was, Langoustine and Courgette risotto, well to say it was... more

We stayed in Lynmouth for a week and were lucky enough to have eaten in the restaurant twice. Yes it's very very busy at the evening meal times but that is easily rectified by booking. The bar and restaurant are also well supported by locals which we always take as a good sign.that the food is good (the beer is... more

We booked this place at the last minute as we wanted to get away from the awful grey Easter weather in the south-east - the west was unbroken sunshine ! This was one of the very few places with availability, and to be honest I had no idea where Lynmouth was ! Anyway, it was a good choice of destination,... more

Pros: Exceptionally picturesque location, rich history Cons: Room badly in need of updating, food was disappointing My wife, dog, and I stayed here on a Saturday night on a long Easter weekend. We were hyped up about the place after seeing it featured on a list of things to see before you die. The twin towns of Lynmouth and Lynton... more

We only eat here once as we were staying elsewhere. Restaurant staff were efficient (but foreign and I would prefer it if they recruited English people in these South England seaside resorts!). Food was unimpressive and overpriced. The vegetarian rissotto tasted of nothing at all. My Husbands fish dish was extremely small, we expected 2 pieces of fish not 1... more

If you are looking for a place for a special occasion and are staying in the area then look no further that the Rising Sun. Had a great bar meal there. There is local fish on the menu and the pub itself has plenty of character. Staff were friendly and the service was good. If you want to have a... more

It's funny, after reading the reviews again on my return from a 3 day break at The Rising Sun you can really appreciate that travellers generally notice the same good and bad points during their stay at a particular location. The bad points were: unsmiling although quite efficient staff. ( The landlady was the most pleasant ) Loose bathroom fittings... more

Booked to stay here at short notice and was pleasantly surprised by our room. We stayed in room 2 (sea front) and found it very comfortable and clean. Spacious enough with a reasonably sized bathroom. I will say however, the shower over the bath was dreadful. No power, with the fixing loose and why a manual mixer in this day... more

We picked this following a trip when we spotted it and from a couple of our books Roamntic Inns to stay in and 'Thousand places to see before you die'. The food was lovely, the room was fine and the bathroom large and clean. However for £150 b and b we expected decent toiletries and clean cushions and covers on... more

The Rising Sun is QUITE EXCEPTIONAL. Superb room overlooking the harbour - clean and comfortable. Bar is friendly and serves excellent ales and wines. Had supper in the restaurant which was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. Their chef, Oliver is first rate and very innovative whilst serving "Proper good sized portions". I recommend this experience as probably the best I have had in... more
