We received a warm welcome by the very friendly owner. The room interior was basic but thanks to the decoration and the little terrace in front of the house (where they serve cream tea) the place had a certain charme. There are 2 negative points I could name. There was no shower curtain, so you had to be very carefull... More

On ordering a pot of tea for two in the 'tea garden' the man serving us was not very polite when we declined anything to eat. He was then extremely rude to the next couple that ordered only tea. To the next people he said loudly 'thank god for that' when they ordered cake. Extremely rude and unwelcoming man. Manners... More

Room was very nice, pillows were terrible felt like you was sleeping on the mattress and bed squeaked, cobwebs all over windows. breakfast was cheapest sausages and greasy eggs. The owner thought he knew it all.

What a lovely welcome and charming place to stay, a mix of tradition old England and the Far East creates a lovely ambiance, add to that the babble of the river outside - perfect setting. Great access to nearby facilities.

Three of us stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the south west coast path. 1 double ensuite and 1 single. The owner was smarmy and unwelcoming. Had to ask to change double room as it wasn't en suite .... were then given a room with a private shower and loo across the corridor .... this is not en suite... More

We'll be back! It's not a hotel, but it is a quaint B&B on the banks of the once-infamous East Lyn, a short distance from the centre of the village. And yes, I can understand how the ultra-sensitive might think the owner is reminiscent of Basil Fawlty. But it was still a wonderful couple of nights. When we arrived the... More

Great location, owners very knowledgeable of the local area (great for first time visitors), and the bacon was the best I've ever tasted. After realising we had left some clothes in the wardrobe the owners were immensely helpful in returning them to us safely. We would definitely stay again.

The B&B is in an excellent location, overlooking the West Lyn river, and walking distance from the main esplanade in Lynmouth and the footpaths and cliff railway up to Lynton. The owners are very helpful and knowledgeable of the local area, though the gentleman can seem a little overbearing at times, offering suggestions of places to visit when all I... More

I have just returned from an idyllic weekend in Lynmouth, staying at the Captains House. As usual the hospitality was impeccable, and the cream teas in the beautiful garden delicious. I would recommend this little bit of paradise to anyone travelling in this part of the world.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights, had the captain room which we thought would be overlooking the river which it was not, if we wanted to see the river from our room we had to stick our heads out of the window. Own has no manners and does not offer you how u like your breakfast done... More
