Fantastic location with the beautiful River Lyn literally outside the window. Room was quirky if a little dated but clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice but no beans!!! Host was welcoming and extremely helpful with where to eat, visit etc and also helped us find real Exmoor Ponies! Dippers, Grey Wagtails and Salmon all seen in the river and just... More

2 nights stay for wedding anniversary. Warm welcome, room adequate and clean. Had the Captains room. Bed and pillows very hard. Parking in road which is free. Breakfast quite greasy. Hot water came on at 5:15 in the afternoon. Value for money - good.

I chose the location because it looked nice on the internet. Nice location, nice owners of the guest house, next time we go to stay we will call first to book a 'good' room. Josie and Clifford are a nice couple and work hard running the Guest House.

This B&B has probably got to be in one of the best locations in Lynmouth, overlooking the gorge and a short (less than 5 minutes walk) from the center. The facilities and decor might be a bit old fashioned (some might say quaint) but the place was clean and the proprietor welcoming. I had a single room with a private... More

This area of Devon is beautiful, and I would highly recommend a trip to it. I based my booking at the Captain's House on the description given. I was disappointed to find a lot of it was inaccurate. I've listed out some of the reasons for my low rating below. Room was not ensuite as advertised WiFi was not available... More

When we first arrived at this B&B we thought it was a lovely location and looked pretty from the outside. Unfortunately, inside it's dark and smells damp. We both found the man a little 'off' and he wasn't very amenable. We were bombarded with questions about what we wanted for breakfast the second we walked in, as if it was... More

We called here after a walk by the river for tea and a bite to eat, as a sign outside suggests we could do that. After ordering 2 ploughman's ( there was no menu and it was like pulling teeth finding out what was on offer), I asked if I could use the toilet. I was informed I could if... More

On the back of the room door was a sign saying that if you had to leave early due to illness, death etc then the establishment would charge for the whole of your stay. This should have been a warning! Very dated room full of frills and dour decoration. It really would not take much to update it. We had... More

The b and b is in a beautiful location on a river, there is no hotel parking you just have to find a spot along the road and hope for the best. The rooms were dated but had character and we're clean. The pillows were the worst I have ever slept on like hard boards with lumps (the captains room).... More
