My wife, myself, and our little dog, Simba, stayed at The Village Inn on a cold, wet and windswept weekend in January. Our welcoming from Mark, aka "Razor", the landlord, was so friendly, he simply couldn't do enough for us! His motto is, "I like helping people", and he makes everyone feel like "his locals". We arrived late, due to... More

We stumbled upon this place and it is fantastic. We were made to feel very welcome and it is one of the friendliest places I've stayed, not just for people but for dogs....the dogs are treated as good as the people. Great location for dog walking. Great food. Will defiantly come back.

We booked this hotel based on the wonderful Trip Advisor reviews. When we arrived we instantly realised that all was not as we were lead to expect. We wer lead up stairs covered in boxes and litter - a fire officers nightmare. The onto a landing where there was a stinking dog rug outside of the kitchen door. Then anothe... More

...I think I need some therapy! Bev and Mark know exactly what they are doing and do it superbly. Mark runs a good bar that is kept properly, all the pumps regularly flushed and cleaned. Bev cooks up an enormous storm of excellent food and loads of it. She regularly defeats me with the sheer quantity. Highly recommended. Lynn &... More

Didn't stay but popped in for a meal whilecstaying elsewhere. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food was great simple pub food, homemade, tasty and great value. The cauliflour cheese was superb and my cottage pie was adapted with a bubble and sqeak topping (as the toad in the hole had sold out). Would definitely recommend.

We have been to this pub a few times and every time it has been as good as the last. The landlord and Landlady are always helpful and make you feel at home. The beer and wine is of a very good standard and are well kept for a good price. For the first time on this visit we went... More

After walking past this pub the night before we decided to pop in, mainly because there was a pub quiz on. We were a bit hesitant when we walked in but staight away the landlord asked if we wanted to join the quiz.We said no because it was an hour and a half and weren't sure we'd be in there... More

Our family of four popped in for dinner and drinks on the last night of our summer hols in Devon, we weren't expecting much despite the pub being recommended by our holiday park owner. However, we were very pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and excellent service from the staff all round. When I knocked over my beer and it... More
