Woody Bay is one of the most atmospheric places you can visit in the UK, and the Woody Bay Hotel is perched high above the bay nestled on the steep wooded hillside. We went here on our honeymoon and stayed two nights. The Hotel itself is run by a lovely couple who provide a relaxed atmosphere where you are looked... more

We thoroughly enjoyed the very comfortable, spacious, clean room and marvellous, gourmet food. Martin and Collette are superb hosts with a great sense of humour. The house is lovely and everything is done to perfection. Did a four mile walk to the Heddon Valley and back - then enjoyed afternoon tea and a fabulous dinner. So peaceful. Very sorry to... more

Just back from a wonderful stay at the Woody Bay Hotel. Location on the coastal path makes it ideal for walkers, views across the Bristol Channel are fantastic. Food is unbeatable and wines are reasonably priced. All the rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished, our bathroom and decor in Room 1 were very stylish. more

A last minute getaway for a night's Dinner, B&B...although the hotel is in a remote area it is easy to find and with only five bedrooms has a real "house party" feel to it. Relaxed and relaxing, superb food, welcoming and good company. The surrounding area is spectacular, wooded and wild, with walks down to the sea. The "set" dinner... more

We have known this hotel for many years hidden in the trees high above the North Devon cliffs along very narrow roads and not for the timid driver. Its ideal for country lovers and walkers and has an old world charm. Decor has been vastly improved since our last visit and the owners are great hosts. Food and accommodation is... more

The location is superb, and the couple who run this charming hotel extremely friendly. We enjoyed the food as well. Decoration is done with taste. If you like out of the way "character" hotels, this is the place more

We would recommend this hotel unreservedly. The location was beautiful, nestled in the woods above the bay. Our room had a view of the sea and surrounding hills, I believe all the rooms have sea views. The hotel is high enough to give views over the Bristol Channel all the way to Wales. You can see Cardiff & Swansea glittering... more

Just returned from a relaxing weekend staying at this quirky hotel. Food and views, as already stated, are excellent. Very comfortable and large bed. Fabulous old building with a great verander over-looking the sea where you can sit in wicker chairs and enjoy your afternoon tea. However the decor and furniture are in need of serious renovation. Our room had... more

Well worth the detour off the beaten path down winding lanes, we arrived at this small, cosy hotel to find a big, comfortable bed and cuisine to die for. Though the bar has been converted into for-sale apartments, the restaurant remains intact, and owner Martin Petch turns out the most sublime evening meals and fresh breakfasts. We spent a week... more

I just stayed in the Woody Bay Hotel for a few days with a friend, and we were really happy to be exploring Exmoor from there. It's at the most spectacular spot above the sea, with various walking trails starting right on it's doorstep, and only a few kilometers from Lynton if you are looking for a little more exitement.... more
