Dreadful hotel. Old, tired, smelt dreadful, punch holes in the bathroom door, room keycard stopped working and it took them ages to fix it and let me back in my room. As a consequence, I was late for my meeting. Never again.

Like many, after reading the reviews I was expecting something from Dante's Inferno. What I actually found was a tired looking but comfortable hotel with a low price and some decent beer in the bar. Didn't eat there so cannot comment on that side of things.

Stayed here Friday, was expecting to catch the plague after reading some reviews but to be honest it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Sure it's looking really rather tired and luxurious it definitely is not but at £40 a night what do people expect. If you want a warm clean bed and average breakfast for as little as... More

cheapest place I could find in Exeter for a last minute booking so can't really complain, but the hotel really is extremely dated and in dire need of some loving care and attention breakfast was very good though, and a good range of beers in the (very locally) bar.

I stayed here alone in a single room for four nights, during a work training course, so I was not paying. If I was I would have left 5 mins after arriving & gone to the nearby Premier Inn. This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying at. There are not any free parking spaces... More

This is a dark, dingy hotel that needs pulling down and rebuilt! It smells of old cabbage as soon as you enter, there is no lift to rooms. The rooms are awful. I have pictures to add. The sink was cracked, the kettle filthy and so was the stool. It smelt of smoke. To wash your hands after using the... More

Booked in good faith as was a good beer guide entry marked with a bed symbol. Was greeted with an indifferent barman who abruptly informed us that there was no parking available. The whole place looked tired and dingy and had a rather strange unpleasant smell. We later found out that the 'restaurant, doubled up as a late night chinese... More

The hotel had friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was included, and it is in an extremely convenient location to the train station. I would highly recommend this hotel to other patrons staying in Exeter.

I was in need of another place to stay in Exeter but this time I had a van to park so I chose The Great Western for price and parking. On arrival I couldn't help but notice the peeling paint and the lack of tlc. First impressions count they say. I went in and found the duty manager serving ale... More
