This excuse for a hotel has to be high on any list of the world’s worst hotels, but in reality to give it the credence of the name ‘hotel’ is a misnomer. The internal appalling state of repair of The Great Western the gives the impression of a now closed and derelict homeless hostel, with its peeling, flaking paintwork falling... More

Hotel is in a great location with easy access to transport links. Parking is reasonable at £7.20 per day. Hotel looks and feels a little dated and some areas could do with a makeover. However, all the room and the public areas are clean. Room was quite adequate in size with tea/coffee and biscuits, ample storage space, TV, hair dryer,... More

Hotel is in a very good location, just near to st david's station and easy access to airport bus and other city bus. Wifi is free and pretty good. They offer English breakfast (included in price) and was pretty decent and filling. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Had good sleep. Only thing I did not like is they don't have... More

If you need somewhere cheap and cheerful, this is fine. The room I had was a good size and even though by train station, I didn't hear them on a saturday night. As per the exterior, it is a bit shabby inside, but it's perfectly adequate and was clean and warm. My only complaint is that I contacted them several... More

I used to drink in the bar at this hotel 28 years ago, and don't honestly think it has seen much in the the way of decorating since. My single room was adequate for my needs. I stayed for just one night to attend a concert at the university, so the location was ideal. The station is close by and... More

Booked a double room for 3 nights and have to say Fawlty Towers was 4 star compared to this place. Whole place is very shabby and run down. Furniture old and battered, drawer front in room fell off and stayed off. Really nice "art deco" touch though with the awful sliding door into the bathroom. Has NO HOT WATER for... More

The single room I stayed in at the Great Western Hotel was nice. A 32" LCD TV, a comfy bed, complimentary biscuits and coffee and tea plus a really nice shower with plenty of hot water. Good breakfast and for £48, great value for money in Exeter. Only point to make is that there is a £7 charge for overnight... More

Booked in for one night whilst on the way to Beer, Devon. Conveniently situated right by the train station which was ideal after a long train journey. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome whilst having some excellent local beers. Room very comfortable and provided everything needed for a stop over trip, breakfast was excellent with lots to... More

a very dated hotel but ideally situated next to the main railway station in Exeter. surprisingly there was no noise from that direction, and my wife and I slept like logs, but didn't wake up in the fireplace. lol. the food was great and the bars were well stocked with popular local ales. the icing on the cake was the... Rude staff - unhelpful and abrupt Bad value - totally overpriced Run down (see photos). Wall paper peeling, mouldy pipe, threadbare carpets, very old decor, stains Not enough hot water - weak shower flow Damp smell on staircase No parking included Contractors use - noisy with doors slamming with some shouting during visit.
