We stayed here for one night for my husbands 40th. We only decided to stay in the city afew days before so we were lucky to get a room. We booked the Ivory room. It was beautifully stylish with an amazing bathroom with a huge rolltop bath and shower. The bed was very comfy and despite being full the hotel... More

Wanted to try this hotel after visiting its sister hotel Burgh Island a few years previously so for our anniversary I booked it. It is perfectly situated for the city centre and cathedral all within easy walking distance. The hotel is a former Georgian gentlemen's home and stands out amongst the other business buildings in the road. The hotel lobby... More

Stayed here for one night. We were very pleased with the hotel in general. In particular, the bed was one of the best we have had for a while. The fixtures & fittings were also of a good quality. The only gripe with the accommodation was that the shower room was not separate from the bedroom, nor was the toilet.... More

We were staying at the Southernhay hotel for our engagement party in August. All the rooms we reserved were amazing, in particular ours, Sugar. It was just perfect, stylish with that historical colonial style ( read the story of the very first Southernhay owner, the so called "orientalist" Mr. Kirkpatrick ). Just very few minor things to improve: the major... More

In a renovated Georgian house a very nice boutique hotel. Large rooms, ample breakfast, attentive service. Very close to the center and the Cathedral. Only caveat is that the en suite bathrooms have a glass wall and an incomplete separation from the bedroom‎.

Southernhay House is located on a quiet, elegant square about two minutes from the Exeter Cathedral and the main high street. In terms of location, it is ideal. It is a beautiful property, both inside and out, and strikes a strong chord between maintaining its historical interest and significance and having modernised its amenities. The welcome was exceedingly warm and... More

Lovely property, decor was lovely, very nice, small hotel. We stayed in the silk room which was really nice and ate in the restaurant for an evening meal which was lovely and the breakfast was equally as nice. The staff were all very welcoming and smiley and the location is vey central and easy to walk to any of the... More

It is located in a listed building, 5 min walking from the Cathedral, on a nice road with green islands in the centre reservation. The building itself is remarkable and the staff is very helpful. I feel for them because the rating I will give does not reflect their professionalism. The Wilberforce room we stayed in was a stuff of... More

My partner treated me to a wonderful weekend at Southernhay House. The rooms have unique names and we had 'Sugar' which is a triple-aspect room with large bathroom and a very comfortable bedroom area. The service is second to none and the staff were charming and as attentive as you need throughout. All the facilities you would expect (although the... More

Some very strong positives to this hotel. Attentive staff. Excellent drinks in the bar. Great breakfast. Clean, polished rooms. Strong wifi. I liked it a lot. I won't go over all of the quirks that everyone has already mentioned but will offer a few suggestions that might address a few of those. One: yes, the clothes-hanging situation is difficult with...
