The big advantage of staying at this olde worlde hotel/pub chain in the heart of Exeter is the ability to park for free in the heart of Exeter! Our one night stay in order to visit the cathedral was perfectly comfortable even though we chose to stay in the four poster bedroom which was on the top floor - quite... More

Took the Cromwell suite for a Saturday night to visit the Christmas market. Room is full of character and a great size, the bathroom is superb. The decor is not perfect but I'd take this any day over a bland and characterless premier inn. Being at the front of the building there was some traffic noise during the night, but... More

When we first arrived a fairly clueless barman told us where our table was (across the courtyard) so we went and sat down. Only to find out drinks had to be ordered at the bar so up we went again to queue! There also didn't seem to be a system for letting the waiting staff know we were there. However,... More

We stayed for two nights so that we could enjoy the deliights of the Xmas market during the evenings and also visit Sidmouth and Seaton for seaside strolling during the day. The hotel is situated a short, fairly level, 5 minute walk from the Cathedral and Bus Station. Parking is free, which is a definate bonus in a busy city.... More

Excellent location and friendly staff. All facilities were good but the hotel was very busy with many Christmas parties which put the excellent staff under great pressure. Our room was newly decorated, clean and fresh - it was however on the top floor of the old part with very tricky stairs to negotiate - it would have been nice to... More

This was a brilliant hotel, staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I was here for the purpose of work, all staff went out of their way from reception to bar staff to breakfast restaurant staff. Rooms were cleaned well and everyday . The lady from housekeeping was also very friendly and did a very good job. I absolutely loved Lynne-... More

The is a hotel/ pub with a superb city centre location and which provides free parking which is at a premium in this popular city destination. The reception staff are excellent but residents dining room staff are obviously too busy to give the same degree of service. This is an establishment which is so typical of many middling British hostelries... More

Stayed for one night in a single room, which was comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was lovely (sausages were to die for) and there was lots of it. The only thing I would say was perhaps the hotel could update the menu on the tables for breakfast as it was slightly confusing as it stated that orders would be taken... More

When you go to "Hound of the Baskervilles" country, you want to stay in traditional hotel. The main part of this hotel is old, with rambling bars and restaurants and loads of character. It's slightly disappointing that the rooms are in a new block; but on the other hand they are well-designed and comfortable with a good shower. Slight question... More

Stayed for one night in a single room. The check in process was easy, staff very friendly. I had a comfortable room at a good rate for a city centre hotel and it included car parking, which a lot do not in Exeter. Breakfast was traditional English well cooked and plenty of it. Nothing outstanding, but a good, clean hotel... More
