This hotel is a relic of 1950's English Attitudes and Approach to business. Having gone to the Lord Haldon for a romantic time with my wife, I felt myself in the same "toe curling" pain that you get when you have to pay £8 for a burger in a Motorway Service Station or feel obliged to tip a waiter in... more

Recently stayed here for one night on business. Hard to find but a lovely old building and very peaceful. Room 8 was decorated in the 80s I would say and although in need of updating the fittings were of decent quality (TV and shower aside) The bathroom was very 80's, wallpaper and carpet and only a small extractor fan away... more

In fact we got married here. A great place for a wedding on a sunny day. The setting is superb, food excellent, Staff fine. As some people have already observerd, the decor needs updating tough this doesn't spoil the stay. Make sure you have a GOOD map (its a little difficult to find). Try and approach from the Haldon Forest... more

Booked one night for two single rooms for a business trip. Myself and colleagues are normally keen to try something different to the bog-standard Holiday Inn fayre, and this certainly fitted the bill!! As previous reviewers have said, this is in what feels like a remote location, so be prepared for the taxi fare if travelling by train. Very peaceful... more

My wife and I enjoyed a 6 day stay (DBB) at the 'Lord Haldon '...but with the following slight reservations... Although only 4 miles from Exeter ,its location is very much off the 'beaten track' and not easy to find in daylight...impossible at night, on your first visit. When you find it, the hotel location is excellent....it sits on a... more

Stayed at the Lord Haldon for a friends wedding. After we checked-in, we found our room to be full of flies as the windows had been left open all evening (reception did equip us with fly spray). We woke up in the morning to find there was no hot water at all, after complaining to reception we were told that... more

We stayed at the Lord Haldon in mid July based on the reviews of the food in Tripadvisor. All of the reviewers were correct, the food is delightful and the staff are very good too. The breakfast is excellent as well. The setting is wonderful and there is a lovely walk across the countryside that we undertook before dinner. The... more

We arrived at this hotel as it was the venue for a wedding reception I was attending. The staff could not do enough to help. I checked in but as there were photos waiting to be completed and food waiting to be served, I chose not to head straight up to the room. There is no doubt that the hotel... more

Wow! Just Wow! The food is incredible and the standard of service is first class, with all members of staff from the reception to the bar willing to stop to have a chat with the customers and they set such a welcoming atmosphere in thecandle lit restaurant, and all the staff are so polite "can i offer you some more... more

I had booked a Superior Room for 1 Night to include Bed, Breakfast and 5 Course Evening Meal. The hotel is in a beautiful location, a short distance from local forest and only a few mile from the centre of Exeter which is easily accessed. The room was supposed to be a superior room, and it it was very nice... more
