Location is very nice, not easy to find. Reception was fine, room small, plastic bin, plastic mirror, breakfast was ok, certainly not worth the money. more

Having seen some of the reviews here we arrived at the hotel with a certain amount of trepidation. We found a very good hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff - they were outstanding. Our room [#25] was at the front of the building and was modern, clean and beautifully positioned with fantastic views across the countryside. Certainly the main... more

Stayed here for one night. You need a GPS to find this old building. Room 7 was decorated in the 80s ??? and in need of updating. The bathroom was very 80's, the peeling paint and odd shower (I thought it best not to use). The breakfast was excellent, the best i have every had. The staff are very friendly. more

Stayed just one night when working in Exeter. Easy to find down the narrow roads if you have a good sat nav - mine gave up but my colleages Tom Tom was fine. Excellent room - sunken bath also had a newish looking massive shower overhead. All staff very helpful. Evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant very good. Stunning... more

Just returned from a weekend away and was pleasantly surprised by this Hotel. It is tucked away but the instructions on the website are good. It's only got a twenty odd rooms and no leisure facilities but the rooms are of a good standard. The food and public areas are good and the Staff friendly and helpful We would thoroughly... more

We have just spent a very pleasurable 3 nights at this Hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Especially the poached smoked hadddock and poached aggs. The setting is beautiful with lovely views. It's extremely quiet and well placed to explore Exeter and the south Devon coast. However, it's off the beaten track, so a Sat/Nav... more

My husband booked a room for himself but I decided to tag along and when we arrived on a cold evening were met by a very surly receptionist who reprimanded us for only booking for one and told us in no uncertain terms that we would have to pay an extra £30 on top of the £70 already charged. Most... more

The Hotel is only 5 miles from the centre of Exeter and set in lovely countryside with amazing views. The hotel interior itself is fairly dated although in keeping with the age of the property. TV's are new LCD widescreen’s; rooms are very clean and very large. There is also tea/coffee, biscuits and two bottles of water in the room... more

The only thing going for the Lord Haldon is the view. My room was very dated; old appliances, old wall paper, stained carpets, curtains that did not close etc. The shower cubicle was covered in grime and the whole place gave me the heeby jeebys. Staff were not particularly welcoming except for the gentleman waitor at breakfast time. I really... more

Stayed for two nights whilst attending a wedding here. Perfect setting for a wedding and reception was very well catered. However got distinct impression that weddings and corporate functions are what they do and you are not very welcome if merely staying here. Disinterested staff, very dated rooms, very expensive bar meals (£12.95 for literally 2 fish cakes on a... more
