I was so disappointed with this stay. It was our 11th anniversary treat and because I wanted to eat at Michaels restaurant we booked in to the hotel so we were on site. The pictures of the bed in the standard room are very deceiving. They look like super king, which is what I have at home and talk about... More

Dear ‘Claire-Louise C’ Thank you for taking the time to write a review following you most recent stay. I’m sorry to hear that we fell short in couple of areas during your short break with us but really pleased to hear you enjoyed your meal and felt all of my team offered a high level of service. The bedrooms dependent... More

Very tempted to only give this hotel three stars, but the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff lift it to four. Also, not complaining at all about the price, especially given the central location. As for the room, I would describe it as compact. I have started in similar sized rooms before without complaint, but unfortunately this one doesn't make... More

Dear ‘David M’ Thank you on behalf of the Brownsword family for your review following your recent stay. Our Comfortable Room’s are in general small but vary in size, in general the higher the category the larger the room. All the rooms have wardrobes for hanging space. Thank you for your comments regarding our team here in Exeter , it... More

The hotel is exquisitely situated in the centre of Exeter directly opposite the cathedral. We had a three night package of dinner, bed and breakfast. This sounded good but, in practical terms, it meant two courses from a very limited menu (and the same each day) taken in a café environment - plus, of course an "optional" service charge. But,... Dear ‘hibees43’ Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I’m sorry to hear you were disappointed by the room size and pricing in the hotel. We have a number of different category rooms and are some of the cheaper Comfortable Rooms are on the small size. The wine in the Champagne bar starts at £6.25, wine in... More

Stayed here for 1 week. Room 303 is a standard room and although has no view to speak of is a very comfortable room. Lovely soft bed, good sized shower room, and ample cupboard space. Room was serviced beautifully every day. Staff at the Abode professional and more than helpful. Breakfast was very nice with good choice on menu. Hotel... More

We booked this hotel last minute after a terrible night in another Exeter Hotel. The contrast was immediate. Professional and helpful staff at the desk, big lovely room, clean and quiet. Location to die for just across from the Cathedral. Due to its age and location there is no on site car park but you can unload in front of... More

First if you have luggage and exit the train station do take a taxi if you are geriatric and slightly disabled. I listened to a well meaning local and got misinformation. The hotel is off the Cathedral yard and much of the area around it is pedestrianised, but there is vehicle access and my advice would be to take it.... More

We've stayed in this hotel on many occasions, usually taking advantage of their special promotions. This time we decided on a room only stay and booked a desirable room, with a request for a room with Cathedral views. Our room was delightful, spacious with a very very large and comfortable bed and it came with the requested view of the... More

My husband and I booked a two night stay here as part of a trip to the West Country; The hotel is in a magnificent location directly opposite to the Cathedral and in the centre of town. Check in was efficient and directions and instructions for the off-site parking clear and concise but the whole thing lacked the warmth and... More

I stayed here with a choir group for six nights and was pleasantly surprised at the upscale accommodations. It was in a perfect location for our residency at the Cathedral. My room was a wonderful retreat at the end of each busy day, especially with a/c. Housekeeping was good, and the service in general was fine. My only complaint is... More
