What an absolute treasure this Guest House is, just a two minute walk from the city centre. The owners are totally genuine, and so helpful but unobtrusive, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the Garden Lodge, complete with hot tub, which was heated and ready to use. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed really comfortable. The... more

We stayed in the King James suite, a wonderful four poster bed very confortable and very classy place. The decoration is fabolous. great location. We had very nice wine in the bar with the owner´s, who are very friendly. Our room had a large flat screen tv with dvd player at the front of the bed with Sky tv. Furthermore... more

This is one of the nicest guest houses my husband and myself have stayed in. The breakfast was yummy, the room we stayed in was lovely with it's four poster bed, it was very clean, it has a great location for the town (5 minutes walk) all in all a really good weekend. Thanks very much Graham and Leon. more

The Melbury Guest House was possibly the worse B & B we've ever stayed in. We stayed in the King James Suite which was garishly like a mausoleum. The 4 poster bed was positively creepy - and the two mattresses on top of each other resulted in an uncomfortable night's sleep and bad backs the following day. The decor throughout... more

I was nervous on our arrival as from the outside this B&B looked decidedly dodgy. Then we walked through the front door. Inside was all Victorian charm, with plush sofas, chandeliers, and ornate gilt-framed pictures. The staff were lovely and friendly, with nothing too much trouble. I had kippers for breakfast and was served a platter so large I couldn't... more

Stayed here for one night while my husband went to a meeting to do with work. This Guest House rescued us because we always travel with a small Yorkshire Terrier and it is quite difficult in England to find hotels that will take very well behaved little dogs. We had booked a hotel from a famous chain that we use... more

I spent three nights in room 3, a single room with shower and wash basin but no toilet, that was just outside my room. The gardens that I overlooked were lovely, and one room can be booked with use of the Jacuzzi in the garden. There is plenty of seating in the garden, it rained while was there, so I... more

This place fancies itself. It is not located in the best part of town though it is handy for the centre. Rooms are small, over-decorated and over-the -top. Breakfasts (after filling in your form) are so-so. Prices charged can get you a good hotel - each to her own I guess more

had a terrible stay here in July 09. A few things that bugged me: -- booked a single room over the phone, was told it didn't have a full bathroom, just a shower. i thought this meant that there was no bath, just a shower, and I said that's grand, sure i'm travelling on business anyway. the guy laughed. discovered... more

I reserved a room at this hotel using my credit card. When I arrived they had not held the room because they forgot to take my telephone number. They blamed this on a new member of staff and I was unapologetically sent off to another hotel some distance away. I always found a credit card number sufficient to make a... more
