We enjoyed first a coffee, then lunch and finally a take out drink to enjoy on the cove of the same name. All was enjoyable, the building has loads of character gleaned from hundreds of years of history but with a modern twist. What made this place stand out though, were the staff. Genuinely welcoming and friendly, immaculately presented. We... More

We were in Drake which was a gorgeous room - modern rustic decor. Has a tv and dvd player. There were free dvds to use. The only problem was that it was so hot. There was a fan and they gave us another when asked so that was good. The living area was very comfortable but the bathroom was boiling.... More

Great relaxed evening of Tapas with two young children welcomed. Super service and atmosphere with live music too. Would recommend booking as we went back on our last night to find a private booking had been taken for the whole place!

We only stayed one night but would have happily stayed longer. We stayed in the Raleigh room at the front with a side window on to Bayard's Cove ( just). The quality of the finish in the room is excellent with some nice touches such as fresh loose tea and filter coffee. The bed was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean.... More

Enjoyed the cream tea here so much we came back for more later in the week. The staff were friendly, and welcoming, despite our dripping wet clothes. beautifully decorated inn, we'd definitely return when in dartmouth again.

We had a fantastic time in Dartmouth at the bayard cove inn! The hotel accommodated 20 of us for my sister in laws 40th birthday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming big thanks in particular to Magic! We had food in the restaurant both nights and it was delicious, plenty to choose from so something for everyone.... More

It's great to stay in an old building that isn't chintzy or twee in it's decor. Bayards Cove Inn is in a modern style that sensibly and sensitively incorporates the ancient 14th century construction. We had booked our evening meal in an upmarket restaurant, but after having the beautifully cooked breakfast, where even the marmalade was exceptional in its fresh... More

We arrived tired and weary, immediately were impressed by the very relaxed yet professional welcome. We had my partners daughters traveling with us so we had the Nelson suite. This proved to be ideal as we had a wedding to attend and the girls could get ready together. Each member of staff was friendly and polite, the rooms were quaint... More

A building with history bad a contemporary update offering excellent bed & breakfast. By day a relaxed cafe bistro meeting place to relax with good coffee and understated service. The only irritation was the poor parking facilities! Not under cover and many cars target practice for the many Seagulls. Small irritation when all is weighed up. Will definitely visit again.

I booked to take my wife here for her birthday, our dog Maza was also welcome... We entered the bar area and I was greeted with very helpful and polite staff, the manager showed us to our room in the Nelson Suite and we were both blown away by the beauty of the room and the rest of the building,... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This small friendly hotel is one of Dartmouth’s oldest and most interesting buildings. It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchant's house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. The hotel is conveniently situated in Bayards Cove in the centre of this lovely town, with the market and main shopping area only a short level walk away. Guests are sure to enjoy the unique character of the hotel and its thoughtfully refurbished luxury rooms, all of which have freeview, televisions and DVD players, and some also enjoy views over the water of the cove. ... more   less
