We enjoyed a very pleasant and relaxing stay at the Forest Inn. It was cold & rainy outside so a warm soak in the full length bath en-suite to our cosy, comfortable room was very welcome. We had a good view from our room over the moor in front. We ate our evening meal there -delicious - followed by a... more

After three days of rough camping on Dartmoor this hotel was an absolute godsend. We had initially planned to only stop for a bit of lunch and a pint but after having the nicest portion of steak and chips ever (well matured and juicy meat, properly cooked, and chips which were crisp, golden brown on the outside and fluffy on... more

We recently stayed at the Forest Inn and had a fabulous time. The food is very good and plentiful without being expensive. The staff are very helpful and we were able to have breakfast outside in the sunshine, nothing was too much trouble. We went with a diverse group of friends and took our 2 dogs who are young and... more

This Inn is in a great spot and it's no doubt that it's dog friendly. The rooms are a little worn but very clean [always a relief when staying somewhere that serves dogs]. The staff are friendly and welcoming. And yet, we didn't really enjoy our stay. The food was a mixed bag, some items such as the chicken pie... more

Stayed at the Forset Inn Dartmoor on a walking weekend late March 2009. Rooms were spacious and clean, food was very good and excellent value for money. English breakfast was possibly the best I have ever had. Location was superb, in the middle of dartmoor not far from where the River Dart West and River Dart East meet. Great for... more

The Forest Inn in Hexworthy is an ideal location for leaving the car and walking the moors. The Inn can supply you with maps and routes. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly to the point you feel like you're a guest in their own home. There is a quiet louge area next to the bar, both very relaxing.... more

We recently stayed at The Forest Inn for two nights, and we loved it. We were visiting the area for a long weekend, and needed somewhere to stay on a Friday and Sunday night, with a night in between spent hiking and camping on Dartmoor. We stayed in two different rooms, both of which were clean and comfortable, and had... more

I agree with the previous reviewer that the outside looks a bit dank and miserable. A lick of paint is long overdue. But my worries were completely put aside when I went inside, and I enjoyed our 2 night stay immensely. The lounge areas are clean and comfortable, with big squashy couches. The restaurant food is excellent, especially breakfast, the... more

Many thanks for your comments. We hadn't even thought of dressing gowns for the rooms with private bathrooms, but will definately be ordering some for those rooms. Unfortunately for us, the weather we get up here plays havoc with the exterior paintwork and although we try our best to clean it up and repaint it frequently, our efforts don't last...

What a superb Inn! Set in the middle of Dartmoor with lovely walks on the doorstep. Really friendly landlord/landlady and staff. We were made to feel very welcome and socialised with other guests and their dogs, many of whom stayed there often. Spacious clean room, nicely fitted. Lovely leather Chesterfields to relax on in the friendly bar, which had good... more

I suppose if you had been walking across the moor for 10 hours in the wet then this hotel would seem like a shining beacon of hospitality. However, if you want somewhere to stay on your way through the west country, then forget it. My wife and I were travelling through to Cornwall and needed somewhere to stay overnight. The... more
