My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay at the rising sun and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did already know of the pub, having had Sunday lunch there on a previous trip to Devon. We found everything just to our liking. Gary & Sarah the hosts were really lovely people and provided nice clean accomodation along with really... More

Was recommended by friends to stay here. So I did for a couple of nights for a college reunion. Very good room comfortable bed. The English breakfast was amazing. The owners are lovely people and we're very helpful.

We called in here by chance but had such a lovely meal that we will make an effort to call again! We saw the sign on the A38, south bound just after the Newton Abbot junction and before the Ashburton slip road. Lots of tempting choice on the menu for meals and desserts, and reasonable portions which are good value.... More

We have just returned from a stay at The Rising Sun st Woodland. Took a punt on the internet and how right we were to try it. We have two large dogs that were made very welcome, excellent facilities and good food and great atmosphere. We will definately visit again.

Wasn't our first choice, but should have been! Will be back to eat here again, and very soon. I had the lamb medallions and the meat was cooked to perfection. Came with smoked mash which was an enigma and a delight! All the food we ordered was tasty, well cooked, well seasoned, and priced reasonably. We found the bar staff... More

Second visit to the Rising Sun and noted it had been revamped. It has been done very well without destroying the atmosphere which so many pubs have done in South Devon. Food was plentifull and of good quality and locally sourced which to me is always a plus. I'm sure the bed and breakfast side is just as pleasant. Will... More

Having been a number of times, we had no hesitation in booking a table for a family lunch when many of the restaurants in Ashburton itself were closed until later in Jan. I wish we hadn't bothered. Some of our party arrived a little early and ordered drinks and some of the bread & olives from the starter menu -... More

Dear Heather S. Thank you for comments - feedback is always welcomed even if it is negative! We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your recent visit. Your party of 9 were booked for 1pm and our large party of 16 (most of whom had pre-ordered) were not booked until 1.30pm – a more than adequate gap between bookings.... More
