We only stayed one night but had a lovely experience, the room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was delicious, we did have to wait but that was due to power cuts. The owner's are very friendly would definitely recommend and stay again.

Food is expensive, portions are small. Children's menu is a joke - breaded chicken comes in batter, fish goujons come as one lump of fish. Complaint made - owner admitted chefs got it wrong but no price reduction offered. Not good.

This hotel was a fantastic gem of a place to stay. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, as we were then this ticks all the boxes. The setting is beautiful. The staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble without them being over powering. The food was outstanding - so much so we didn't go anywhere else... More

This hotel is well worth finding being set in a beautiful, peaceful location. The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Our hosts were great and worked very hard. The breakfast was lovely and no one asked us what we wanted for breakfast the night before which was nice. The room was clean and ok somehow though it didn't quite do it for us. The bar was big and typically country style , very quiet though. Our meals were good but... More

I have stayed at The Rising Sun a couple of times now and have found the staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. It is situated in a quiet country setting but a short drive to the main A38 road. The bedroom has everything you need tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, a very comfortable... More

Staying at 'The Rising Sun' Hotel in a delightful part of Devon was the perfect start to the UK leg of our Golden Gap year. Gary and Sarah were excellent hosts who made us feel very welcome. The room was furnished nicely, very clean and quiet with a private entrance from the main part of the pub. We enjoyed 2... More

My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay at the rising sun and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did already know of the pub, having had Sunday lunch there on a previous trip to Devon. We found everything just to our liking. Gary & Sarah the hosts were really lovely people and provided nice clean accomodation along with really... More

Was recommended by friends to stay here. So I did for a couple of nights for a college reunion. Very good room comfortable bed. The English breakfast was amazing. The owners are lovely people and we're very helpful.

We called in here by chance but had such a lovely meal that we will make an effort to call again! We saw the sign on the A38, south bound just after the Newton Abbot junction and before the Ashburton slip road. Lots of tempting choice on the menu for meals and desserts, and reasonable portions which are good value.... More
