I really thought I was going to be stuck without a bed at the popular beauty spot of Clovelly. I phoned all the B&Bs within walking distance and they were all full. Both the inns in the village showed up on the internet as being priced at £100 per night... but you can't believe everything you see on the internet!... More

This is a stunning building in a great location and ideally placed when walking down to the harbour. The food was hot and nicely cooked and we were able to sit outside in a very pleasant adjacent area with a relaxing atmosphere. What spoiled it for us all, and I this only applies to one person, was the attitude of... More

We stayed one night at the New Inn and will never stay there again. There is nothing chic about the shabbiness of this hotel. It was grubby and stuffy - not a window anywhere in the large reception areas were open - or in any other areas we saw. The soft furnishings in our stuffy room were grubby and the... More

We called in for lunch after having a disappointing meal at the Red Lion on the Harbour a few years ago. We chose meals from the specials board and they were all home made. We had our 7 month old baby with us and were well accommodated. We would certainly recommend eating here when in Clovelly. The beer garden looked... More

If you are familiar with Clovelly, this Hotel provided for us a slightly more budget friendly alternative to the Pub accomodation down at the Harbour, but with no lesser sense of occation. It should be noted though that The New Inn is near the top of the main high street and only accesable on foot, although the entry fee to... More

We were staying in the Red Lion at the quay, but ended up eating here every night and it was well worth the effort walking up the hill, even at 5 months pregnant! Food was excellent, freshly made, great variety, great price, perfect size portions. Staff were friendly and were very accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Felt very... More

We had a cream tea at the New Inn. Nothing out of the ordinary, and the pub area certainly could do with a little renovation. I recognize that the character of the place should be kept, but it was careworn and a bit grubby. We did not stay here so cannot comment on rooms, etc.

Stopped here while walking the SWCP. Stayed in rooms across the cobbled street from the main Inn. Very clean and well presented. Staff (and local fisherman in the bar) are very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast in main Inn. Excellent kippers! Perfect place to enjoy the unique and character Clovelly.

From the start, only came across friendly helpful staff. Hotel is full of character (some might find this dusty and tired). Great breakfast in a memorable dinning room. Watch out for the donkeys!!! Simple but adequate rooms across the road with shared bathroom.

Clovelly is a charming village set almost vertically into the cliff-side. You park at the top of the village and carefully, walk down over the steep cobbles. Not for the mobility challenged! This inn was rather stuck in a time warp which was quite charming, however, it is in desperate need of some TLC. Damp patches and mould in the... More
