I am dumstruck by the review of the Lake Chelan Rotary from WA he must have stayed at a different Red Lion!! We stayed on Saturday night and had a lovely stay, our room was small but so quaint with lovely furnishings and new Bathroom and the most amazing view of the sea, we found the staff more than helpful... My friend & I have just spent two nights at the Red Lion Hotel and had a fantastic time. Very welcoming, friendly, great views, fantastic food & nothing is too much trouble. Beds very comfortable & clean. Drank in the bar during the evenings with many of the locals & off duty staff, could not have asked for nicer company.... More

Terrible food, unclean, unfriendly, poor value. Clovely is no better than so many other beautiful villages in Devon and Cornwall. The Red Lion is far worse than other similar hotels in the area. Avoid the cost of maying to see the village and the Red Lion by going elsewhere.

We stayed at the Red Lion for one night on the way further south. What a perfect stop over. We were in room 4 which looked out to sea as opposed to the harbour. Room 5 also looks out to sea but has a balcony with seats to sit and take in the view. However we had a bay window... More

When you visit heritage sites and wish to stay a little longer than simply a visit, it is often hard to find overnight accommodation. The Red Lion is not simply overnight accommodation, it is pub right on the quayside in Clovelly, renovated to a very high standard as a pub/hotel. The rooms are excellent and their restaurant food an absolute... More

We were lucky enough to be placed into a room in the Sailoft which had beautiful views across the bay and meant we could leave the windows open to listen to the tides at night. The staff could not have been more welcoming, Perfect line between being friendly and allowing us to exist in our cocoon. The room was clean,... More

Stayed here for one night....we were quite taken aback when we were shown to our room..what a view! Right on the seafront...literally yards from the sea...much better than expected! The hotel itself is very tasteful...the room was beautifully decorated with sash windows which let in a cool breeze on a hot night. The bathroom was very small but the shower... More

The location and view from the hotel is excellent. The room (#6) was on the small side but perfectly adequate for a couple on a single night stay. The room was clean and well provided for with regard to towels, tea & coffee etc. A great view of the harbour from both the bedroom and bathroom (the bathroom is a... More

The position is superb, has everything to be great but maybe some service issues that affected the overall rating. Positives, location, cleanliness of the room although small had everything we needed. We arrived late as our walk from Westward Ho had taken us longer than expected. The Manager was at reception when we were contemplating a choice of being able... More

Fantastic location right on the quay in idyllic village. As far as I could see all rooms (there are only about 18) have wonderful sea views. We stayed in the new wing of 6 rooms and we could not fault the rooms. Fabulous views, amazing showers that had all sorts of options, sitting area, free waters, biscuits and teas ,... More
