On arriving on a late fri evening we found that we had been upgraded to a luxury room which was a great bonus! The room was to a very high spec with nice touches most of which you wouldn't find in luxury hotels. Would be an excellent hotel for families too as this was a family rsuite with a seperate... more

My husband and I have just returned from the Lake District where we stayed at the lovely Ullswater View B&B. My husband has not been too well so we decided to 'get away from it all' for the weekend. We arrived at 11pm absolutely shattered after driving up from Hampshire and it was lovely to be met by Julie (the... more

My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Ullswater View. On arrival we were greeted by Julie the proprieter with a warm welcome and a lovely pot of much needed coffee. Julie was very helpful in giving us directions into the nearby towns, for cycle routes and walks. Julie also organised for a surprise bottle of Champagne for... more

I have had the pleasure of using Ullswater View (formally Gowbarrow Lodge) for the last nine years. It gets better every year as the current owner seeks to improve the facilities offered to her guests. I have read many of the reviews regarding this establishment and agree wholeheartedly with the positive comments that have been made. The welcome is always... more

We have just spent a great weekend in and around Ullswater, with the icing on the cake being the the Gowbarrow Lodge (soon to be the Ullswaterview according to the host). Julie, the proprietor give us a very warm welcome, with a much needed pot of tea and advice on where to dine locally. The room was very clean and... more

We chose this guest house based jointly on the reviews we read on this site along with the description and photographs on their own website. But I must admit that we were bitterly disappointed. And I feel that some of the descriptions on their website are certainly an exaggeration and some are totally unfounded. Now called the Ullswater View, the... more

We spent 2 nights at the Gowbarrow Lodge in August, it is a great place to stay the rooms are furnished to a particularly high standard, with a lovely view of the Lake and surrounding Fells. The breakfast was excellent and Julie the owner is very accommodating and can't do enough for you. I would have no hesitation in recommending... more
