Really enjoyed our food at The Victory Inn - bar manager and staff were really friendly and the place was packed out. Totally different to our visit last year! The curry was so good then we went back for their curry night which is held on a Thursday night.

What amazes me is probably the negative reviews of this lovely local pub come from London people staying at the tresanton that is full of polish staff ! We stayed here for 2 nights in September, having read some of the reveiws, really did not know what to expect!! but we were plesently surprised. Yes it's an old pub, the floors are not level,hence the bed being at an angle & we had to prop the tv up so it got a proper signal!!! adds to the qurkiness!!... More

Went here for a meal while staying in a cottage @ St Mawes. Worst meal we;ve ever had in a supposedly good food pub. My son had lamb passandra that was like a poor quality vesta instant dried meal, my pork steaks were mostly fat with some tough over cooked meat, my wife's crispy soggy cod was like wafer thin... We didn't stay at the Victory but called in for some lunch last week. The pub looked fine from the outside and there were a few people eating outside. The inside was a bit dark but you expect this with old properties and, initially, the staff seemed OK. We ordered scampi and chips, which, at nearly a tenner, isn't cheap.... More

Hasn't improved from a lot of the negative comments posted here. Was disappointed but not surprised. Fore-warned is fore-armed.

Went on a Saturday evening, staff served locals before us, very unwelcoming, I suggest the chef learns how to cook chips, very disappointing....
