Stayed on the run up to my daughters wedding in 2014 , all our wedding guests were made very welcome there and the night before the wedding , we took over one of the downstairs rooms . Visited at least twice a year since then , excellent rooms and staff . Food always superb , Thank you Jo and Paul

My partner and I popped in for a coffee before setting off for a walk at St Mawes, having ventured onto the coastal path on a very wet and windy day it quickly became apparent that the appeal of an open fire, and good Cornish beer was a far greater attraction, I can certainly recommend The Rising Sun as a... A large bar and restaurant area and a lovely cosy room with an open fire. Food is good and the portions are large Dog friendly and wet walker friendly too which is very handy. Well worth a visit for lunch and a drink and if needed to dry off in front of the fire.

Met up with family down from London who had dined here before, my comments are - Food - fair to middling, over priced desserts (bread & butter pudding luke warm, tasteless and sloppy. Staff - uncommunicative and when spoken to short and curt in their replies. Always wondered what it was like - now I know - won't be beating... More

We came over on the ferry from Falmouth to explore but arriving at lunchtime thought we would eat first. The food was good. Quality made a 'not cheap' meal good value I thought and as we bagged a window seat the view was good too. I had fish (nice piece of lightly cooked hake) and my wife splashed out on... More

So didn't make a booking for dinner here, had to eat outside - thankfully was a clear evening and ended up being very mild weather. I ordered the ploughmans platter and it was really nice, great presentation. Really great place to sit, relax, eat and watch the sun go down over the harbour.

On arriving at St.Mawes late last Sunday night (11pm), to find no keys for our holiday cottage, it was particularly gratifying to have my, and my family's, preconceptions altered by this place. To be honest we've always regharded the Rising Sun as a bit of a formulaic pub which did abit of everything. Nothing wrong with that of course but... More

We had eaten in the restaurant earlier and decided to have a few drinks outside. Later on in the evening I decided to get some chips from around the corner to eat in the outside area which was empty. We then had the manager come out (not up to us) and tell us off with a very sharp tone. After... More

We rented a cottage in St Mawes and we came to The Rising Sun a few times. We ate in here twice and the food was lovely. Quite big portions and very tasty. Menu is what you expect from a pub. Drinks are normally priced. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this pub.
