We were staying in Portscatho but came across to St Mawes for the day and decided on Hotel Tresanton for lunch. They were very accommodating even with 3 young children (9, 5, and 2). We were put slightly away from other diners on raised platform, which was perfect. Nice large round table as well as sun beds that boys lounged... More

Arrival at the white wall was stressful, the road was worryingly narrow, fringed with sightseers and oncoming vehicles tested my patience. At road level only a simple, tasteful sign on a white washed stone wall indicates that you have reached your destination. There's valet parking at Hotel Tresanton, so if you have managed to pull in on the double yellows... More

Overall a very good expierence. I have a problem with some of the recent reviews talking about shabby decor and not great staff We found the exact opposite Charming and attentive staff and a very stylish hotel. Food was very good. Perhaps a small problem with noisy children but it is middle of summer. My only real criticism was the claim... More

Although we didn't stay here, we were told it was the best place on the south coast of Cornwall to come for afternoon tea so whilst staying in St Austell we headed over to St Mawes to check it out. First off, beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the many steps from the car park down to the hotel reception but nothing... More

We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday barbecue on the terrace - there was a superb range of both cold and hot dishes to suit all tastes with a number of different salads, prawns, scallops & oysters through to locally produced duck burgers, lamb chops, sausages and steak all cooked on the terrace to your liking. Service is always efficient and friendly... More

We stayed here in June as a couple but young family members visited us each day. Tresanton clearly states it welcomes children and they certainly helped choose the best room, (the Garden Suite) with this purpose in mind. The kids had a great time playing on the beach, eating in the private garden, discovering the games-room and settling in to... More

The staff are very attentive and friendly without overdoing it! The rooms are nice, but could do with some updating. We had a patio room with rather uncomfortable chairs and table, but a couple of loungers would have been nicer. The plants in the patio could also do with a bit of water. The food was excellent - breakfast consisted... More

Disappointing venue to stay, our room was small stuffy and a bit dreary. Towel rail in bathroom on permanently(no switch) so bathroom unbearable and warm. Lots of energetic children screeching and playing which is great to see them having fun, but gets a bit frustrating when trying to take a snooze in the sun. Food was good and staff excellent,... I apologise for the disappointment we caused you and for missing you on departure. I should have written to you afterwards. The towelrails cannot be regulated by the guests but we have maintenance at the hotel who could have turned the towelrail off for you. I do hope you will try us again. Outside of the school holiday, Tresanton is... More

Sadly, this review is in the nature of a warning. The property of the Hotel Tresanton is charming, with magnificent views of an idyllic Cornish harbor, and zig-zag stairways leading up to the terrace where we stayed amongst fragrant rosemary, lavender and many other beautiful plants. HOWEVER. It is not a luxury property as billed. The hotel is run-down, and... More

I am really sorry the hotel did not match your expectations. I hope you will accept my sincere apology. You mentioned during your stay that you did not find your bed comfortable. We use Hypnos beds and usually receive great feedback from our guests about these mattresses. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked and we could not offer you a... More

We have dined here before and know the hotel well although this was our first stay. I always thought it was good now I know. The place has always looked the part with every room having a sea view and that makes it special. What makes it very special is the attention to detail. We went straight to the car... More
