My partner and i stayed here on what we thought was a very good value for money deal, three for two night stay. The bar and dining area were very pleasant, with lovely views of the harbour and bay. BUT, the room we had was very dated. Orange walls, and dark bedding made for a very dull, dreary room with... More

We have just returned from a six night break in this hotel. We were lucky enough to be allocated a refurbished room. The decor and furnishings were satisfactory, bathroom vey good, plenty of hot water. The towels and bedding were crisp and fresh and changed regularly. Two windows each looked out on adjacent buildings and were VERY close. Both had windows which could... More

Situated right on the harbour front in the pretty village of St Mawes the hotel has wonderful views looking out over the estuary and harbour from the dining room and bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel clean and tidy. Our room was a reasonable size with a comfy bed and all we could need, although... More

As we are both registered disabled (I an 85 and my husband 89) we asked for a room near reception so we did not have to walk far. We were given an upper floor room at the very end of the hotel, and had to negotiate three corridors. The room had depressing yellow walls, the curtain was hanging off, the... More

Hotel despite other reviewers comments is good value for money. The hotel rooms are clean, well presented and of a fair standard. The food is hot, traditional and service good with nothing being too much trouble. I will be back soon hopefully with all being well as with such a good location I cannot resist!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ship and Castle. We booked this hotel before we looked at reviews on Trip Advisor so we had some trepidation. As we had booked late we were told no seaview rooms were available, so we requested a high floor in a quiet position. From the minute of our arrival... More

Just returned from a 3 night stay in the Ship and Castle, and there is little positive to say...but i shall try to point out anything good i can find. Ah reception - very helpful, nice welcome. Room - its been said before, and no doubt will be said again. Rooms are drab, and smell of elderly care home. I... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your comments, I am disappointed that you thought our bar area was tired looking – We just 12 months ago refurbished this area along with all of our other public areas in a nautical theme to fit into our location. There is enough seating between the restaurant and bar for all of the guests. However... More

We went to this hotel on the 30th March 2012. On arrival was greeted by an unhelpful receptionist. We found the public rooms to a very good standard, with a superb view of the harbour, but the rest of the hotel left a great deal to be desired. The bedrooms were dated, the bedding worn out. We had a room... More

We spent just 4 nights in this well-positioned hotel - in a room overlooking the harbour. We loved the comings and goings below us. Although the public rooms had been extensively renovated, the bedroom was tired, although everything worked. The live music below us was somewhat disturbing. We thought the food needed more attention to make it more interesting in... More
